    Rockauto Wholesaler Closeout

Going to revive this thread instead of starting a new one. I mentioned in a previous post here I had bought struts that were wholesaler closeout and they were new in box and had no issues with them... Well the other day I bought a plate bracket as wholesaler closeout item, and to reduce shipping...

What do you think this noise is

I don't understand how you even came to that conclusion... You do realize this is a diesel engine right? They all "knock" ... Also, I'm pretty sure rod knock isn't that quiet that it can only be heard from inside the cabin

What do you think this noise is

So timing belt, water pump, and associated rollers/idlers have been replaced, along with the serpentine belt and one tensioner roller which was bad. While the noise has disappated, it's not fully gone, but you have to really be looking for it to even notice it... What it can be at this point...

What do you think this noise is

Can't take the cover off without removing a bunch of ancillary pieces such as fuel lines out of the way. The cover will come off next week at the shop and I'll report back with any findings

What do you think this noise is

On the timing belt? Don't really have a way to listen to them individually, the cover is in the way and there's no way to remove it without taking a bunch of other things off (at least from what I can tell)

What do you think this noise is

Ah completely forgot to write that down. It's a 2013 VW golf tdi with 128000km I will report back after the belts/tensioners/idlers are replaced for sure

What do you think this noise is

Hi all, back with another mechanical question. There's this odd noise coming from the engine that I can only hear from the inside with the doors and windows closed. It sounds like a roller or bearing going bad on the serpentine belt, or even worse, the timing belt. However, if I go outside, I...

Heads up for Canadians, Pennzoil Synth on sale at Can Tire and $25 discount from Penn website

Going to grab some 0w30 5L jugs next time they go on sale. Just wondering, the way I'm reading it, you are eligible for two, 25 dollar gift cards per address during the promo period, meaning you can pick up four 5L jugs and apply for the rebate twice to get 2 seperate gift cards. I'm guessing...

13 Golf tdi, fuel nozzle safety cap broke, small bit fell down filler neck

Yea I put everything back and have driven it over 100km without issues. I did think about the fuel strainer but I wanted to be sure, especially since these CR tdis have the sensitive HPFP

13 Golf tdi, fuel nozzle safety cap broke, small bit fell down filler neck

You're right, I didn't even realize in my panic The ribbed tube is the supply line (black hose), and the other one which is just a regular tube that has nothing is the return. Thanks for reminding me

13 Golf tdi, fuel nozzle safety cap broke, small bit fell down filler neck

Got a better look at it, that spring is definitely part of the neck assembly and there does seem to be a screen on the other side of it by the looks of it. I would assume that it's ok given that I didn't find anything in the tank

13 Golf tdi, fuel nozzle safety cap broke, small bit fell down filler neck

So, this is embarrassing and frustrating at the same time... The fuel filler safety device that's installed on mk6s was very loose on my 13 Golf... Went online to see if it can be removed, and it looked easy enough to do. I went to pull it, and I guess because it's old, some of it came apart and...

What are the chances... 2 leaking calipers one after the other...

Whatever it was is irrelevant at this point, this happened well over a year ago. The nugeon caliper held up just fine and the car has been long sold since

2014 VW Jetta tdi - twisted oil filters

Yes I am, along with changing the big o ring at the top of the cap that comes with every new filter. I can't do much except monitor, and perhaps tell my friend to do 10000km change intervals

2014 VW Jetta tdi - twisted oil filters

Interesting, I've never seen that but since flyingvan also confirmed the same happens on his car, I'm not concerned. Thanks for the reply

2014 VW Jetta tdi - twisted oil filters

No as there is no way to even overtighten, the cap eventually stops on its own. I tested it by tightening it to 25NM as it says on the cap, and then tried to tighten more (slowly), but it doesn't turn once its torqued to 25NM

2014 VW Jetta tdi - twisted oil filters

Hi everyone, I'm curious to know what may be going on with my friends 2014 Jetta tdi. I've done the last 3 or 4 oil changes for him, including one today, and the oil filters I've been putting in have been coming out quite twisted... At least, the last 2 have, and pretty sure the ones before that...

    Mazda LF05-14-302b cut open

Yea, that's what I find as the equivalent to this Mazda OEM filter, unless it's a different Motorcraft FL number, but anyways, irrelevant at this point

    Mazda LF05-14-302b cut open

I did, so i'm very surprised to see FOMOCO stamped on this filter, might as well have gone and bought the FL-910s for cheaper. Anyways, bought a bunch of mahle's so good for a couple years in terms of filters
