    2003 Malibu P0171 and P0300

Thanks for the responses. Update... my little sister lives far enough away that I haven't had a chance to and spend time with her car yet. My parents and brother-in-law got anxious and took it in after my brother-in-law replaced the fuel filter. Not a waste of time to replace the filter, but it...

    2003 Malibu P0171 and P0300

My little sister's car that she got for a good deal a few years ago... It needs some attention in other areas, but it idles rough, but responds well enough when accelerating. Its behavior reminds me of when the fuel pump went out on my Cavalier a long time ago. Is there an easy enough way to...

    2013 Impala 3.6 Cylinder 1 misfire.

My brother-in-law's car (2013 Chevy Impala with the 3.6 V6). Started this weekend running rough. My brother-in-law tried swapping coils to see if the misfire traveled. Nope. So he pulled cylinder 1 plug and it looked like this. He replaced the plug and now can't even get it to fire up. Will not...

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

I dug in there this evening and made sure the mount studs were tightened. Seemed good. I also tried to tighten the bigger nut in the center of the strut mount.... It just kind of moved... but I noticed the stud has a hex shape at the end so I'm assuming I need a socket on the end of that with an...

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

Thanks for chiming in again. The mount studs seemed good to me. I'll double check them and the nut in the center of the mount again too.

The nut? Like the main nut at the top that secures the strut to the spring?

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

Thanks clinebarger, always appreciate when you chime in with a thorough answer. Brand new strut assemblies (strut, spring, mount) like I said... I'm afraid something is imperfect. Is there anything I can do at this point outside of replacing them all over again? Handling and tire wear is good...

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

Makes sense. I think I still need to take a closer look at the end links. Today I had my wife move the steering wheel back and forth while I grabbed hold of the coil spring and I could definitely 'feel' the clunk. So does that mean it's definitely strut related? Is there something I could have...

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

Wow. So you don't know what parts actually tamed the noise?

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

Cool. Thanks! I'll take a closer look at them again too.

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

Ok. Thankfully my tires are wearing super well. I'm always looking for uneven wear of any kind on my tires because I'm not eager to have to buy more tires if I don't have to (despite my wife thinking that's exciting to me and that I get excited to buy new tires for the fun of it or something... ).

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

Thanks! To get to the top of where the strut mounts I need to remove the wiper arms and some plastic trim pieces... Not impossible of course, but pretty inconvenient. Thanks for the tip! I'll get my wife to help me out with that.

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

I thankfully didn't have any obvious reasons to replace the sway bar end links. But I've wondered if they could be making noise... ? They feel tight. I'm going to put eyes on the sway bar bushings to rule them out too.

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

Just to clarify... You're talking near the front axle and the rear axle?

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

I'm worried that the noise could be coming from the strut mount. I don't see anything visibly wrong... Any other ways I could verify? Aside from taking things apart...

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

Would CV axles present other symptoms too? Tie rods... For what it's worth, when the front end was up in the air I fired it up and turned the steering wheel back and forth and everything felt smooth and it was quiet. Of course, there was no weight on it so that's not absolute I suppose...

2011 Traverse Front End Clunking Noise

2011 Traverse with 114k miles. I've had multiple noises coming from the front end of my Traverse for a bit. I'll deal with them one at a time as I have time. I replaced the struts recently because the previous owner had only replaced one of them at some point and the other (factory one) had...

Suburban Suspension Parts - Choppy Tire Wear and More

This was my thought. I had a torsion bar mount rusted and broken fairly recently on my truck. Got things sorted out and things seem to be wearing well now.

    5.3 Oil Pump

Bump. My brother-in-law seems to be getting ready to dig into the oil pump and seems inclined to replace the oil pump while he's in there. I told him that OE would probably be the way to go, but that's quite the premium at the dealer it seems. So he's looking at Melling? Do those have a good...
