    Ea189 2.0 TDI Oil Filter

Another VAG diesel oil filter that must have been in bypass, engine ran without issue. 70 something thousand on the clock but no real idea how long this filter was in service. Tech who changed it said that the filter housing was very tight but that the oil did not appear sludged. The filter...

    2024 Audi Q5 Premium 2.0T (37K miles) - oil change interval question

So you will be looking to still have the vehicle after the extended warranty expires, this is important for the maintenance plan. The fact that the engine oil won’t get to temp during the majority of the trips would give me concern around fuel oil dilution, it may be worth doing some samples...

    2024 Audi Q5 Premium 2.0T (37K miles) - oil change interval question

How long is your extended warranty? What’s your estimated annual mileage? How long do you plan on keeping the Q5? Does your oil get to 90 degrees c on most journeys or are you a short trip driver? I personally wouldn’t bother with the BG stuff, save the money and find a euro shop that has a...

“Test drives on public roads are not allowed”

Price on something like is, they want as much as they can get and the buyer needs to bid them down after assessing the vehicles worth. If someone who’s uneducated about cars buys it thinking it’s a simple fix then that’s on them, people like that should buy approved cars with warranty. As for...

“Test drives on public roads are not allowed”

Yeah, and that’s because it’s not been prepped, hence the lower than market value price. It’s not being sold as ready to go/ drive it’s sold as is and by the sounds of it it’s fairly obvious why the cars not been prepped.

“Test drives on public roads are not allowed”

It’s because they are selling it un-prepped. It hasn’t been through their workshop so they do know know if it is road worthy. They are essentially selling it as a trade vehicle, if you but a vehicle from an auction you don’t get to road test it first.

How GM Transmissions are designed To Fail with NextGen Drivetrain

In my opinion your looking at it wrong, if you have a $12,000 truck that you have already paid for, that needs a transmission it’s not going to be worth much, so you have no equity in that vehicle, so you can fix it for $7500 or buy another for $12000 that the transmission might then need...

An amazing lapse in oil filter maintenance.

Yes I do, that car was way out of warranty, came in running fine the filters from a diesel A3 with the ea288 engine, unknown mileage on the filter but car had about 90,000 miles. It is shocking what some people do to their cars. And this isn’t the first I’ve seen, I posted pics a while back of...

Porsche GT3 used as "technician trainer" was sold as new

I know some of VAG’s training vehicles go back into the used car network once the training centre has finished with them, but its specific vehicles that they know from the start are going to only be kept a few years for training. They would never be sold as new though and go through a very...

OK this year is it - New EV - RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE

Stay away from anything from VAG because, 1, software issues- the group doesn’t seem able to get on top of its constant software problems to the point that issues fixed on a precious model year come back on the next model year because they have changed something again. It’s non stop across all...

6.7 Powerstroke Diesel Injectors failing at low mileage?

Personally I think the batteries being disconnected rather than replaced led to the change in fault code from injector 5 to 6. The time to replace the batteries has given the engine ECU a long power down.

6.7 Powerstroke Diesel Injectors failing at low mileage?

Keep us updated, the theory of components being individually wired to the ECU is short sighted as it’s not taking into account what happens inside the ECU.

Thoughts on Clamshell-Style Strut Spring Compressor from Harbor Freight

Use a chain wrapped through the centre of the spring and around something solid like a vice or if you have to bolt it to the floor. The most dangerous part of a spring coming loose from compression is the energy it launches away with. If you can tame this with a chain then it’s much safer.

6.7 Powerstroke Diesel Injectors failing at low mileage?

Yes that’s correct but what happens inside the ECU? Prior experience with Bosch ECU’s tells me that they struggle to correctly assign injector faults. It’s experience with a fault like this that helps you fix a fault like this. Your last words are the only 100% correct words on this whole...
