Go to Oil Filters for today

Been a Fram guy for a while and last OC I switched both cars over to O'Reilley's Microguard filters. Planning on going with Premium guard or Advanced Auto Carquest Premium filters next OC.

    TOYOTA OIL DRAIN PLUG GASKET

I take our corolla on a highway run after an OC and then re-tighten the drain plug. The heat from the oil pan causes the adheseive to degrade, awful design. Luckily I just need to run it up on ramps to get under it.

All Fram 7317 filters sold out everywhere

What I use for our Honda, seems to be in stock locally here. To others points, maybe this is a good thing. I've been using the PH7317 for 10 years and this next OCI I've purchased O'Reilley MicroGuard filters. May just run with them or the Carquest filters going forward.

    CR-V burning oil, should I switch brands/weight?

Our '14 CR-V has been burning about a quart of oil per OC for the last I don't know how many years. Getting ready to change after my first Valvoline fill run, we'll see if it's any different. Been using Pennzoil platinum and other major full syn brands since we purchased in '13.

Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-20 Honda CR-V

Go Bobcats! I started using Valvoline Restore and Protect about a month ago in our '14 CR-V. Added 5 oz SeaFoam motor treatment to the crank case 300 mi before the change to clean it out. We'll see what it looks like at the next change.

Impact Wrench ft/lbs vs ft/lbs leaning on ratchet wrench

The Bauer 1/2 impact wrench stripped the mechanic torqued lugs off our vehicle with minimal effort. I purchased the 3/8" model for lighter jobs.

    Valvoline Restore and Protect

'14 CR-V with about 145K, been doing 5K OCIs since I drove it off the lot, mostly Pennzoil platinum with some other higher end syns now and then. Been using Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage since about 80K. MM just hit 20%. Will top off the oil (burns off about a q per OCI), add 4.5 oz SeaFoam...

Jacked up car by unibody frame rail

The pinch welds are for the emergency jack in the trunk. On my CR-V are the towhook on the rear and a spot near front center of the engine compartment are the lift points I use for floor jacks. . You absolutely can put your jack stands under the pinch welds, just don't use a floor jack to lift...

    TOYOTA OIL DRAIN PLUG GASKET

changed the corolla oil on June 2nd. On a whim decided to check the plug yesterday evening and lo and behold, it needed a decent amount of tightening. These are aftermarket washers and it seems that the heat from the oil pan degrades the felt/adhesive possibly leading to the bolt loosening...
