2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

I just bought a 5 quart jug to keep on hand for topping off. Seems like I’ll just be doing top offs for a while with some filter swaps at certain points unless the burning gets under control.

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

If I buy the 3 pack combo of BG EPR moa and 44k should I use the moa or wait till I'm not using VRP and dump it in then or just don’t use the moa at all? I can get all 3 for about $30 and I’ve heard good things about the products.

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

Sadly no. Im in the south so no rolling hills here. Just flat land and regular 70-85 mph drivers. Probably could do some high rpm 3rd gear rolling at 70 to free the rings up. I’m doing an engine flush for the second time before I go on the trip with EPR.

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

I’m hoping it improves. I’ll be fine if it goes to a quart every 3k but a quart around every 500-600 miles is a bit too much for me. The engine had been swapped with one from an 04 accord with less miles on it (around 165,000 or so/ body of car and transmission is now over 300,000 miles). I do...

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

So what do you think I should do? I’ve already had to top off my oil with some Pennzoil since I didn’t have VRP around so now I’m running a mixed batch at the moment. Should I do an EPR flush then run some cheap synthetic oil with EC30 for my trip and finish out my interval at 2k miles (1200...

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

So running VRP made your engine start burning oil? I just put a new cat converter and o2 sensors on so I’m trying to get the oil burn under control or something more manageable so I don’t foul out everything. I’m still debating running BG EPR through before I go on my trip and run a VRP EC30 mix...

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

In about another month I plan on dropping the oil since it’ll be at 3000 miles but during the oil change I’m going to give the BG EPR a shot and drain the oil. Valvoline Restore and Protect will be going back in and I’ll have a quart of HPL Engine Cleaner 30 on hand for top off if needed.

Carquest Extended Protection P84502 used oil filter cut open - in service almost 14k miles

Nice filter. I put that filter on my accord. Can’t wait to cut it open once my OCI is done.

    New product from STP?

Oh don’t I know it. I put some Continential DWS06+ 225/50r17 on my accord. Cost $800 but the tires are so worth it. Smooth riding and excellent hydroplaning resistance.

Oh well that’s gonna have to wait a long while till I get my jeep back up and running.

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

I’m trying to stay at 5000 mile OCI but if I have to stretch it I can do 7500 mile intervals since I do a lot of regular highway driving to work and back. It’s only 26 miles round trip but I’m cruising at 70 mph 2500-2800 rpm so it’s steady. I’ll be going on vacation soon so before that trip...

    New product from STP?

That’s what I’m thinking. Can’t seem to find the old gold bottle stuff in Walmart anymore so I’m betting they’re jumping on the anti-friction wordplay.

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

I’ll probably do the piston soak following my next oil change if there isn’t an improvement by then. I know these k24 engines have a long life in them so I’m planning on keeping it going as long as possible.

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

It was just what I had on hand at the time. I got a jug of Valvoline Restore and Protect for my next oil change but I’ll use it to top up as needed.

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

Before I took a short 500 mile trip with some friends in the car I used to Liqui moly engine flush after fixing my oil leaks to try and clean the engine up more. The top end is varnished and I have no idea what the bottom end looks like. I ended up burning a qt of 5w30/40mix Pennzoil euro oil so...

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

So on the small chance that maybe somebody would have the answer to this but would this be a good process for my next oil change? I have posted my idea below. Step 1- add Liqui moly engine flush to current oil Step 2- drain out old oil change filter, run with cheap oil and filter to clean out...

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

I’ll probably do a piston soak after the 2nd run of oil to see if anything changes before then.

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

Yes I topped it off with the quart in the picture. I thought about doing a piston soak but I want to see the RnP through for about 20k miles first. It’ll take me about 2 years to get to that mileage but I plan to keep this thread updated as I go. I feel like I should’ve done the piston soak...

Yes but my timing chain snapped so I’m having to do a top end rebuild.
