    Update: new engine has been great since 12/23 Transmission just went out. 4/24 Getting new transmission under lifetime warranty, this thing has really paid off for me. In 4 months the jeep has new long block and new transmission. Mopar lifetime warranty for the win.

    End of story jeep torn down engine to see where point of failure. They found a bent rod along with the cams,lifters, rocker arms and replaced the engine under lifetime warranty. Pretty happy since old engine had 141k miles on it.

    Ending of the story. After being in the shop since Sept 20 and ongoing Mopar is going to replace the engine. New factory crate 3.6 pentastar ordered today ! They didn't make it easy but in the end they did the right thing. Happy Jeeper !

    Mystery is history fellas. After 2 weeks it has been determined to be ...... a piece of plastic - wire harness material. The lady service advisor had mistaken the techs pictures.     Here are the cams from repair from med October not sure if that helps. Dealer is getting with tech to confirm that that big thing is metal which is scary since she represented it as metal for the past 2 weeks. Ill keep ya posted.

    Yes original owner had some engine issues already. 1 yr ago Thermostat went out and had warped cylinder heads - fixed and then all the cams,lifters,and rocker arms,and rear main seal last week.

    Thanks that makes a lot of sense. There was metal found in pick up tube, and in the oil control valve and the pan so far, if that helps so some was definitely made its way thru

    It was ticking, they replaced all cams, rocker arms, lifters. Cams were worn and replaced. They didnt check oil pan so took it straight to a different dealership and they found those pictures. They said the engine needs to be replaced. I'm just not a mechanic and that chunk isn't from the cams...
