Best oil and filter to use in new to me 03 Sierra

I would run a semi synthetic oil, but don't they usually make older engines leak more?

Best oil and filter to use in new to me 03 Sierra

Unfortunately I don't know exactly what they ran in the truck. I do know their maintenance shop had a contract with NAPA so there's probably a pro select already on it.

Best oil and filter to use in new to me 03 Sierra

It is an automatic and has a 5.3 in it. I usually run NAPA pro select filters and Mobil 5000 in my vehicles but I was thinking with nearly 400k on the clock that it might deserve some special treatment.

Best oil and filter to use in new to me 03 Sierra

I recently purchased an 03 GMC Sierra 4x4 with 397k miles to use as a farm truck. It belonged to a highway contractor and lived a pretty easy life as a supervisor truck. Its time for an oil change and I'm trying to decide what would be the best oil and filter to use would be? I'm leaning towards...

98 Grand Marquis ran perfect until it went boom

I was thinking intake as well, but usually when I have seen that happen there's coolant everywhere. I could see the plug theory or a broken chain guide being it because it acts like the timing is off.

Well come to think of it he said it still had the factory plugs in it...

98 Grand Marquis ran perfect until it went boom

My father in law's 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis has always been a great running car, and he has taken excellent care of it since purchasing it new. It only has 140k miles on it, so I was very surprised when he called and told me that it had made a boom noise when he cranked it the other day and...

1996 Grand Cherokee 4.0- wont go over 2000 rpm

I removed the front O2 sensor as suggested and it didn't make any change.

1996 Grand Cherokee 4.0- wont go over 2000 rpm

Well today I drove the Jeep nearly 30 miles before it started acting up at all. Even then it wasn't as bad as it had been before, the missing/backfiring was most obvious from 20-40 mph. After you got it past 40 and in overdrive, it calmed down. If it is the cat, why would it occur intermittently?

1996 Grand Cherokee 4.0- wont go over 2000 rpm

It doesn't run hot, but it does everything else consistent with a bad cat.

1996 Grand Cherokee 4.0- wont go over 2000 rpm

I have a 96 Grand Cherokee that ran great when I bought it a few weeks ago but now it will barely run at all. After it runs for a few minutes it starts missing and backfiring violently. It will not drive more than 25-30 mph at the best, and it cuts off at stoplights. The PO replaced ECM, plugs...

    1989 K1500 Steering Gear Seal

I finished diagnosing my power steering leak today; after cleaning off the gear & pump and refilling the reservoir, I cranked the truck and saw fluid spewing out of the seal on the gearbox near the pittman arm. The front end shops I've talked to have all said that its best to go ahead and...

    1989 Chevy K1500- Heater Valve

Update- Installed new heater core this afternoon and replaced hoses & did a drain and fill on the antifreeze. Man does this thing have a good heater! The instrument cluster issue still happens from time to time, but yesterday I noticed my steering was abnormally tight at low speed. I checked my...

    1989 Chevy K1500- Heater Valve

Oh, while I'm thinking about it, can anyone tell me why when I cut the marker lights/headlights on, that sometimes all the gauges stop working, save the speedometer? Also, the lights for the turnsignals light up, until you cut the turnsignals on when they flash. Likewise, the high beam light...

    1989 Chevy K1500- Heater Valve

Hey guys, I'm replacing the heater core on my beater pickup this afternoon (previous owner cut the hoses off after it started leaking and capped it off) and I was wondering if there is supposed to be a vacuum valve on the heater hose? My other TBI 350 Chevy was wrecked not long ago, and I...

Just bought 2001 Tahoe with some minor issues

It didn't really have any scent to it. It was dark but you could tell by the feel of it that it wasn't regular gear oil. I noticed this afternoon that when driving at low speed you can still hear a slight noise from the back. Is it normal for this type differential to make noise?

Just bought 2001 Tahoe with some minor issues

Update- Finished the flush & fill on the rear axle this afternoon, but had to go tend to some other errands and didn't have time to do the fluid & filter change. The Mobil 1 made a world of difference! No more chatter at all. The truck is much quieter and smoother driving as well. The lube I...

    NAPA Silver/ProSelect Filters

Alright just wanted to make sure they weren't in the same category as the OCOD. I couldn't find too much discussion of them on here, but that makes sense since they are a cheap filter that usually gets sold for fleets and independent shops to use. I'll admit my favorite thing about them is...
