New to me Porsche UOA - what oil is this?

Hello! Car is a 2010 Porsche Cayman S 3.4L DFI 6MT. Bought this in October 2021 and changed the oil in December. Previous owner stated the last oil change was performed by a local shop in April. Sold the car because he didn't drive it much anymore. With low wear and fuel dilution, I think the...

New to me Porsche Cayman oil recommendation please!

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/1075354-introduction-motul-6.html Post #87 Motul also posted "introductions" on many different sub-categories on Rennlist that might be worth digging through.

New to me Porsche Cayman oil recommendation please!

I did some research on Rennlist on Motuls replies to other members who use their vehicles in a similar manner. Motul recommends 3,000 miles in a street application with casual track days. I'm not trying to maximize fuel economy, OCI, emissions, or any other compromises oil and additive package...

Can we save the environment by increasing oil capacity?

Good thought. Perhaps consider engineering an engine that has typical 1yr/10k OCI but with a smaller oil sump. Kind of the theory "as little as possible, but as much as necessary". This would also reduce weight, and probably windage losses creating a more efficient engine package.

New to me Porsche Cayman oil recommendation please!

Ended up going with the 300V, love the packaging here. Using the LIQUI MOLY Hybrid additive over winter to keep the fuel stabilized since I don't drive the car very much. Spark plugs, belt, and MAF cleaner. I have a Blackstone kit, gonna do a UOA of whatever is in the sump currently.

Mix up all my leftovers for my next oil change

No oil monitor here! Not as fancy as BMWs lol

New to me Porsche Cayman oil recommendation please!

True, do you think that is because of the extended drain intervals targeted by OEMs and that Motul might know this and not even try to spend the money for the testing?

Porsche 991.2 Carrera S (3.0 twin turbo - NOT the "Turbo" model) - switching to Liqui Moly, but which one?

I emailed Liqui Moly and they recommended the 0w-40 because it is specifically formulated for Porsche

New to me Porsche Cayman oil recommendation please!

Couldnt we say the same about The Mobil 1 & Porsche deal? Mobil 1 milks the hell out of that with their marketing. 300V has a big shot of Moly 600-700 PPM and is ester based. Frankly, price does not really matter that much. I think it would be a wash over the ownership period of the car because...

New to me Porsche Cayman oil recommendation please!

If Mobil 1 0w-40 is so good, and it’s factory full for Cup cars and all Porsche and it’s Nurburgring simulation and everything… why is Motul 300V the official fill for LMP2 cars with claims of 25% longer engine life? Why not just run Mobil 1 0w-40?

New to me Porsche Cayman oil recommendation please!

The A40 spec is used for 20k/2yr oil change intervals. Do you think that that additive package is biased to detergency properties to meet that longevity requirement that reduces the anti-wear package robustness? I’m changing the oil around 3k/1yr.

So you would just run Mobil 1 0w-40 and call it good?

New to me Porsche Cayman oil recommendation please!

The GT3 cup cars, are purpose built race motors with clearances and materials tuned to extract every ounce of HP out of them, and they get rebuilt every 25hrs. I suspect they use 0w-40 because of the catalytic converters on the car. The reason most of the boutique oils exist in the first place...

New to me Porsche Cayman oil recommendation please!

It’s not an oil really suited for the track. I read about a guy who followed the A40 spec and ran what Porsche recommended. Ended up spinning a bearing and had to replace the motor. I’d rather get something that has motorsports in mind so it is not compromised as much with emissions regulation...

Driven DI40 and Motul 300V 5w-40 are all available on FCP Euro (using the lifetime warranty). Anyone have experience?

What is the opinion on Redline 5w-50? Porsche recommended viscosity and available on FCP for the lifetime warranty.

New to me Porsche Cayman oil recommendation please!

Hi guys, Sold my 2008 Corvette Z06 after 4 great years of street driving and HPDE. Unfortunately I never got to analyze the Redline 5w-40 to see if that was the right oil for wear. The oil pressures were certainly better than the 5w-30 at 265F! I now have a 2010 Porsche Cayman S with the...

Mix up all my leftovers for my next oil change

Thanks! It seems most of you would feel comfortable running it 5,000 miles (1/2 the normal OCI). I'll do just that.

Mix up all my leftovers for my next oil change

Hi all - I have a 2010 Mercedes GLK350 with the 3.5L V6 port injected motor. Engine is running great at 110k miles and consumes very little oil over it's 10k/1yr oil change interval. It has had a steady diet of M1 0w-40 and Mahle filters over it's life. I was thinking of switching to Liqui Moly...
