    No More DIY Oil Changes

I really don't think major oil companies would stand for quick-lube places going under, most notably Jiffy Lube. J.L. is owned (through a few subsidiaries) by Shell, so they've got pretty strong help in their corner.

    went back to disposables

That's true IF the intake tube size is the restricting element in the system. Most likely, the filter is the most restrictive element (no pun intended), so having two paper filters in paralell leading to the intake tube would in fact yield a higher total flow rate possibility.

    Another emissions (smog) question

what are the exact numbers for the HC and CO%? if the CO is really high, and the HC is somewhat high, that can actually mean it's a lean conditiuon, producing a lean misfire...so don't assume it's running too rich because of the high HC's ~Erik~

    changing manual trans fluid; important?

honda uses regular 10W-30 motor oil for their manual transmissions. just like motor oil in a motor, the additives wear out, and the oil can get sheared pretty badly, since it's under a lot of mechanical stress, what with all the gears meshing. yes, I would change the fluid...get a funnel and a...

Anybody else have black gas in their car??

that's a ton of miles on an in-line fuel filter...every couple years is always good maintanance. I change a couple fuel filters a week, and that's pretty typical to have nasty gas in the input end of the filter. I figure it's not a bad thing, at least that's on the input side...that's why the...

    E-Test while doing Auto Rx

what year is your car, and where are you located? many places don't even do a tailpipe sample test on cars 1996 and newer, so as long as you haven't kicked on the 'check engine' light or messed with any emission equipment, you should be fine

    Recirculated Air Saves Gas?

I don't know if it would make a huge difference. I suppose it would save SOME energy because the air inside the car would get cooler and cooler, and therefore not require as much new freon to be compressed, but now you're pushing the air through the A/C system more and more to get the air any...

    Oil Change At JIFFY LUBE>!

I currently work at a Jiffy Lube, and I can tell you that it is not the company that's the problem. Just like any other large chain-company, there are always bad examples to be found. At the Jiffy Lube I work at, we have two guys that have worked in the company for 25 years between them, and...

Help with filter cap wrench slippage!!!

have you taken the passenger wheel off the truck? I totally sympathize with you...that filter location is NOT cool. withthe wheel off the truck, you should have room to use one of the ratchet-applied filter wrenches with a longer extension (if you have one)

Help with filter cap wrench slippage!!!

what kind of car are we talking about? I actually work at Jiffy Lube, so I deal with ALL types of crazy-tight filters that people put on WAY too tight...
