    1.5l Skyactiv G Miata 2018 2.5% Fuel Dilution?

Thanks, i guess it's cause my last MX5 was the MK3 with the MZR-L8-VE which was port injected and a comparitively an ancient lump with terrible mpg and crap engine noise no matter what exhaust you put on it but at least it was absolutely bomb proof haha

    1.5l Skyactiv G Miata 2018 2.5% Fuel Dilution?

Sorry i should have phrased it better, the oil sample is from Mazdas own 0w20, after this sample i changed the oil to Mobil 1 Super 3000 FE 5W30 which i've only done about 500 miles on. The car is driven very hard, it sees redline multiple times a day and will eventually start taking part in...

    1.5l Skyactiv G Miata 2018 2.5% Fuel Dilution?

Unfortunately no oil temp guage, just a useless coolant temp guage which displays the only useful bit of the guage in the far left hand corner and then the rest is left only for when the engine is violently overheating but from what i've experienced the coolant temp gets up to temp about 15...

    1.5l Skyactiv G Miata 2018 2.5% Fuel Dilution?

I believe it's 0w-20 as mazda specifies for it, i already bumped it up to 5w30 when i took this sample (still acceptable in mazdas books). I think my main question is more is this anything to be concerned about in terms of future issues, it's on 50k miles now and i plan to take it to about 150k...

    1.5l Skyactiv G Miata 2018 2.5% Fuel Dilution?

I've owned a 2018 ND Miata (with the 1.5 Skyactiv G) for about 4 months now, in that time i've covered just about 7k miles. I just recently got an oil change and as per usual i took an oil sample and sent it off to Millers Oil for analysis. upon receiving the report back i was advised to be...

Update 2 : Just checked the box that they gave to me full of the old timing chain parts and found something interesting, the "old" parts are brand new and Febi not Mazda OEM so it turns out they didn't even change the tensioner or guides and charged me for the priveledge, i'm booking it in with...

Just replaced the timing chain system and the rattle persists, still trying to diagnose the issue with the dealer, sounds slightly different than before

Well they just called me back to claim all responsbility, what you think a dealer should be responsible for is different from what a dealer actually is responsible fot, you can't tell me you wouldn't take the opputunity to get it repaired for free if you could.

I would do that but my issue is that if i leave it and it develops into a problem (rod knock is my main concern, if it is timing chain chatter i don't care, but i can't get a decisive opionion on what it actually is) it falls on me for responsibility, if chase the dealer up under UK consumer...

I could be overreacting, i just know these engines are very resiliant apart from a tendancy to develop rod knock on the 1.8l engines, i've seen so many on the owners groups now it's getting tiring, the mazda filter is the one you mentioned as far as i can remember, i'll keep this chat updated...

    Rattle on startup

I did but it just stayed the same, mazda oem now and it's quieter than it was but it hasn't fully gone away, it could have been there before but i was just espically aware after the oil change as i'd only owned the car for a month at the point and before i had a 3 cylinder volkwagen which made...

    Rattle on startup

It is only on startup, it is completly absent during any other driving, all the way up to 7k and around when on track, these do have solid lifters afaik, looking at other MX5s in the UK owners clubs i can't see any others making this noise, which is what's so baffling, i saw one video kinda...

Good thing the dealer just phoned me and agreed to take all responsbility and that they are going to send it to an engine specalist to get properly looked at, just had to use legal threats and bad reviews.

The UK law works in the manor that if there is any issue in the first 6 months it is automatically the dealers responsibility unless it's blindingly obvious that it was caused by me and UK courts are incredibly consumer centric. This obviously does not include wear and tear items, but a faulty...
