    2017 Honda Accord oil questions

UPDATE: Well, I am having great difficulty finding Honda semi-synthetic 0w-20 in my area. Prices per quart online are outrageous; the lowest I saw was $6.xx plus shipping. I visited the local dealership and asked what oil they used and I got this response (I swear this is totally true)...

    2017 Honda Accord oil questions

My wife and I took the car for a shakedown cruise and it was fantastic! Yes, as one who has owned 6 Hondas, this one is totally up to par.

    2017 Honda Accord oil questions

BTW, the engine is the 2.4 litre 189 horsepower 4 cylinder. The 3.5 271 horsepower v-6 is only available with a manual in the coupe. I wanted the 4 door and better gas mileage. The car runs like a dream and handles like its on rails.

    2017 Honda Accord oil questions

I understand the point about "cheaping out" on the oil. Pennzoil Plat is often on sale around 4.79 a quart at Farm and Fleet, and Mobil Super Synthetic is sometimes 3.99 (more than fine for a 5000 OCI). I will definitely take your Mobil 1 suggestion into consideration. Please keep the comments...

    2017 Honda Accord oil questions

Hello All! Two weeks ago, I purchased a new Honda Accord Sport with a 6 speed manual, red exterior and black interior. I am absolutely in love. I have read the owner's manual and so far, there is no discernable maintenance schedule. I have read that the break in oil should be retained for...

PQIA tests ten 5W-20s - one gets an Advisory

I guess that I will ask an obvious and probably stupid question. Will using Valvoline Nextgen harm my engine, assuming an OCI 5 months/5000 miles (probably less) that Honda recommends? I bought a load of this stuff for $1.00 a quart at AZ. Now I'm kicking myself in the butt.

    Post Your Beater+It's Current Fill/Filter

Please see my sig. 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis - 161,200 miles - Valvoline nextgen 5w-30 + Motorcraft filter - every 6 months. It burns about 2 quarts every OCI, so I use the oldest dino in the stash for topoff.

    2013 crv and 2007 accord ?'s

Honda recommends a valve adjustment on the 2.4 @ 105,000 miles. I have read about occasional issues with damaged exhaust valves over time w/o a regular valve adjustment. Your startup rattle also could be due to piston slap, another occasional problem with the 2.4 litre. Nothing to worry about...

Oil recommendation for two older modular 4.6Ls?

I bought a 1995 Merc. Grand Marquis last summer with 150,000 miles on it (now at 156,000). The previous owner went to one of the local instant oil change places and changed to oil every 3000 miles using whatever they had on tap and the cheap oil filter. The car runs extremely well; there is...

    Honda K24 bearings

I do not know if the k24 has thin bearings, but I can tell you that I have not had any problems with the k24s (not even the dreaded piston slap) in either my CR-V or my '03 Accord. In addition, there seems to be a lot of evidence (both anecdotal and empirical) that the k24 is a very durable...

New to me Accord, oil questions..

Suggestion: Please check the timing belt. If it has never been replaced, you are overdue. Just my 2 cents. Have fun with your Honda.

CR-V AWD during a snow storm. Tell us stories...

I have a 2002 CR-V with the AWD. I currently have inexpensive Firestone snows on it. On Thursday, I was caught in a significant storm and had to drive approximately 45 miles on snow covered, rural two lane roads. On the way to my destination, I counted six cars in ditches. Meanwhile, the CR-V...

    SCORE! (Kinda...)

Just thought that I would share this. I went to my local Wally World and found quarts of Nextgen 5w-20, 5w-30 and 10w-30 as well as Nextgen Maxlife 5w-20 in the clearance section - price of $4.00 a quart (ugh). Well, everything is negotiable so I walked over to the automotive counter and asked...
