New Jersey tells Tesla: remove super chargers from NJ Turnpike

I'm in California now but used to live in NJ and used the Turnpike enough but with an ICE vehicle. Just used the restroom at rest stops and gassed up; never bought junk or fast food. In CA, the few times I've used a Tesla Supercharger there was a bathroom on premises or the SC was on strip mall...

UniFi/Ubiquiti network and protect questions for new ADU

I think I can use the Wifiman read the info to adjust power and channels. What do you mean about the meshing? Is it regarding the Beacon? I need it now to get signal to the garage nearer to the Teslas. From the UniFi network portal, how would you disable meshing?

UniFi/Ubiquiti network and protect questions for new ADU

I agree it is definitely overkill. I have 6 APs in the main house similar in size to yours and 2 floors so pretty compact. Maybe that is working against me in terms of interference. Spectrum is slow and my speeds are half of yours. I had to add a UniFi Beacon to the detached garage so my...

UniFi/Ubiquiti network and protect questions for new ADU

That's a great idea. Will need to mention it to the IT installer. When I completely redid my house with a guts renovation in 2020, he installed CAT 5e cable. I was upset he did not use CAT 6 instead but I read up and there was really no great advantage and CAT 6 is harder to work with and...

UniFi/Ubiquiti network and protect questions for new ADU

Small, just 1000 sq feet, but I figured I could put an in-wall AP which fits at outlet level and provides a "mini" switch of sorts for direct connection to the LAN as well as a PoE port as well. An AP in each of the 2 bedrooms and the main living space downstairs.

UniFi/Ubiquiti network and protect questions for new ADU

Thanks for answering. Will have about 4 x 4K cameras (perimeter), 2 x 2K cameras (indoors), about 3 APs that are in-wall so can also have direct network wiring for computer or audio hook up. Also 3 non-PoE outlets for TVs. Will also have wifi controlled Lutron lighting and the usual wifi...

UniFi/Ubiquiti network and protect questions for new ADU

I am adding an ADU to the backyard so there will be the main house and then the ADU which I want to extend my present UniFi network. Currently main house has Dream Machine Pro as the gateway(has hard drive recording 6 cameras) and Pro 24 PoE switch supplying power to all of the APs and...

Ubiquiti U6 mesh vs U6 extender: which to get with Dream Router

Thanks for all of your replies. I may well just run exterior type cat 5E cable on the roof as it is only a single story and terminate it with a POE switch at her end of the house. My sister does not care if it looks just a little unsightly. As previously mentioned, does wifi 5 vs 6 make a...

Ubiquiti U6 mesh vs U6 extender: which to get with Dream Router

For an approximately 3500 sq foot rectangular 1 story traditional wood constructed house (50'wide x 70' long), I would want wifi coverage from front to end to allow wifi Ring cameras to work on both front and back ends. I plan on adding additional Ring cameras soon as there are significant...

VPN for iOS devices when traveling overseas: how hard and is it necessary?

I called my payroll provider (ADP) and was told I could log into their website from Korea no problem but was also suggested to use a VPN; forgot to ask why but I assume for security issues although from this thread, not so much? From my iPad, was recommended I use the Google Chrome app, not...

VPN for iOS devices when traveling overseas: how hard and is it necessary?

I'll be at the Four Seasons in Seoul and Grand Hyatt in Busan. I'll call my payroll provider to see if I can access their site internationally or else I might actually need a VPN. I looked at Proton VPN and can subscribe for a month if that's the case.

VPN for iOS devices when traveling overseas: how hard and is it necessary?

Thanks for the advice. Don't let any things install on my devices except apps from the Apple App Store that I must need.

VPN for iOS devices when traveling overseas: how hard and is it necessary?

Thanks for all the responses. Even though I have cellular service via roaming, I will be at locations where cellular is not accessible due to location or within buildings so may have to use local "trusted" wifi at large international chain hotels (Four Seasons and Hyatt). That is why I brought...

VPN for iOS devices when traveling overseas: how hard and is it necessary?

With all of the scammers and hackers out there, I am becoming more paranoid. Going on a 2 week trip and will use the Verizon International plan which is $10/day/device; don't want to deal with getting an eSim card there (Korea) which would be cheaper but more of a hassle. Will access the...
