very interesting! I did not read the article… appears to be subscription based. Sounds like there is correlational between seal wear and oil viscosity. Makes physical sense to me. I’m glad I went down to a 0w20 from 5w30 for the cold months! Better seal life!
I think that the designers did a good job of trying to package an oil cooler/filter assembly in a small space (engine bay size constraints).

I took a Fram xg11665 out of the box at Walmart. Really not impressed. The end cap was at an extreme angle. I did buy the Fram Endurance and plan on running it for 15k in my Gladiator

I use the FRAM XG replacement on my Yaris for two OCI. I cannot state that the XG is better/worse than the Toyota replacement filter but the XG has certainly not made the Yaris make funny noises on startup or lead to a any noticeable power loss.
