I have PUP in 5w30 and 0w20 from Amazon.com for ~$27/5 quarts. I keep my eye on the price and buy when it gets low 😉

We use Pennzoil ultra platinum 5w30 in the warmer months (85F summer high) and 0w20 in the colder (37F winter high) months. 2021 Forester. Enjoy your car!

very interesting! I did not read the article… appears to be subscription based. Sounds like there is correlational between seal wear and oil viscosity. Makes physical sense to me. I’m glad I went down to a 0w20 from 5w30 for the cold months! Better seal life!

According to Lake Speed Jr, PUP (at least the 5w-30 I think) has borate esters. I use 0w20 and 5w30 PUP in our vehicles

I think that the designers did a good job of trying to package an oil cooler/filter assembly in a small space (engine bay size constraints). The number of issues with the implementation of the design is concerning, though. My 2017 Jeep JKU had an oil leak before 50K miles, from what seemed to...

I took a Fram xg11665 out of the box at Walmart. Really not impressed. The end cap was at an extreme angle. I did buy the Fram Endurance and plan on running it for 15k in my Gladiator

I don't post here much, but... I use the FRAM XG replacement on my Yaris for two OCI. I cannot state that the XG is better/worse than the Toyota replacement filter but the XG has certainly not made the Yaris make funny noises on startup or lead to a any noticeable power loss. I tighten the XG...
