Whelp that does it for me. Not like I am going to have a ton of flow on a four banger anyway. Transdapt with either a Fram ultra or a Cummins filter and a BP filter. Will post pictures as soon as I get it all and put it all together. Will take a few weeks.
Thanks for all the help and insight...
Looking at the xg3976a specs that they show on the Fram website. That filter has a 1-16 thread. So that kit comes pre set up with a 3/4-16 on the left and a 1-16 on the right correct? Then you just added the BP filter?
What kind of set up do you have Alex_L?
I'm still thinking the transdapt kit with thread adapters will be fine for me.
I would love to be able to test exactly how restrictive the flow is in a BP filter.
I imagine though that they would clog a lot faster due to how fine it filters compared...
HAH wow so if I'm not misunderstanding that statement then I think I've been grossly mistaken about amsoils dual bypass kit. I was under the impression that it had a restriction built in. WELL that explains alot! Wonderfull. Restriction is only from the media. Makes a man wonder if I could run...
YES! Thank you Alex_l is exactly the question I was aiming to answer! I can't wait to hear your reply about the filtration. So with this I guess I am going to do this. Dual set up with a either a Fram ultra or try to find a decently sized cummins lf filter the one with the venturi and bypass...
Well after doing more reading and thinking about it. I think I would like to do a double remote system.
I have nothing against Trasko or Frantz but I want to stay out of the engine bay as long as I can.
A single head with a fleet guard with the internal bypass filter. As well as another...
Zpinch yes I have seen your set up. Looks nice. Hope mine will look as good when I'm done.
Greasymechtech, so using the trans-dapt kit you think I will get proper flow through the bypass filter without damaging it? I've been looking into the lf9028 fleet guard filters the past couple days...
Zpinch don't get me wrong. I have nothing against amsoil set up. I've always read it's a great set up. But even with dealer price ( which I have ) I could do a similar hand made for about 40% of total cost.
I have read on the Kleenoil set ups and they look nice. But as you've said it's a lot...
Dnewton3 thanks for all the great information! I'm not strictly new to these things but I'm looking to find answers to questions that either haven't been asked or I have yet to see.
You bring up great points on the dP. Is the kind of thoughts I'm wanting from different perspectives than mine. I...
Wow those are some good numbers for conventional with 8k+ miles. You've got me wondering now. If I'm not mistaken I've read that Donaldson does make the filter elements for amsoil. If that filter is made like the amsoil but just slightly less restrictive that might be a good solution to run a...
Hello tef.
I find it funny your car is the same color as mine and looks identical in the engine bay.
That's a great looking set up. I looked up the filter and see the it is rated for 5 microns which is good. Only thing that strikes me as odd is that it says it's a fuel filter. Have you ran...
Thank you for the thoughts dnewton3. I tried doing some searches for Gary Allen and sadly didn't find anything.
You are correct as well about the mounting hardware. It is a straight pipe to both filter inlets. Can come in from either side allowing to either plug the opposite side or install...
DNEWTON3 Thank you for the welcome.
Yes to avoid the normal pro-cons talk let's just say I WANT to do this.
As for the bmk-21 the dealer price is 146. Then like 44 for oilfilter adapter and 32 for bypass filter. Still around 225 for a full set up.
So my real question is this. Why in a dual...
Oil changer! Thank you for the welcome. I am really not wanting to discuss that quote in this posting. I've read the entire posting of " Do bypass filters reduce UOA usefullness? " and don't want to start that here!
Let's just say that is my personal opinion leave it at that for now. This is...
Hello everyone! First time poster LONG time stalker!
So right to the nitty gritty!
I have been for a long time wanting to set up a duel bypass system for multiple reasons. Reduce wear, extend runs to increase R.O.I so on and so forth. But that's not what I want to discuss today!
First this...
