I did not take a picture of the cylinder bore... will do so when I get a new head gasket. The cylinder is aluminum. BTW, just learnt that the engine (or most small manual start engines?) has a "compression release" mechanism which helps manual pull-start. Maybe this explains the lower resistance...
Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions. The screw was indeed on the butterfly. The plate fell off and got stuck in the intake. Put it back with loctite. De-carboned the piston top and the intake valve with brush and throttle cleaner. The intake valve still sit a bit cockeyed; can't adjust it...
Am mowing today, and toward the end of it, the mower lost compression completely. Now this mower has been with me for 24 years since new, never had a compression problem. Just oil changes and spark plugs etc. I am thinking to junk it simply because it has been so long. But then curiosity got the...
2007 Mazda3i, bought new, all services are done by myself, see my post above for oil used. I change oil every 5k miles or 6 months. lots of short trips in last 10 years. current mileage 149,842.
you are right. I was a bit surprised by it. I looked at the 2013 Camry filter, did not have this much as from the Mazda3. The car, for most of its life, was using Pennzoil Platinum until last year when the Ultra Platinum was available at Walmart near me. I have been using the Ultra for 2 OCIs...
Less than 5000 miles on oil. Filter was bought from Walmart. Recent oil filter QA issue had me worried. Never cut open a filter before. All is well, likely to continue with Motorcraft.... there simply isn't a brand that does not have issues lately.
Dealer says toyota only pays those two oil changes at 10k and 20k, no matter what schedule I follow. Their words. Toyota Corp says it's legit for toyota care to cover oil change at 5k. I don't know... I can't make the dealer to use toyota care at 5k oil change in that area. not really a problem...
Thanks. I am looking at the Glendale dealer, and called the services as well. Got a good 1st impression ( I know, far fetched... maybe wishful thinking) but at least the service writer did not dismiss me over the phone. They are running a special for May... so I might just ask daughter go there.
