Should I continue using HM Oil after gaskets?

However, I remember reading that the additional additive packs in most HM oils (I'm specifically referring M1 HM, to be clear) protect many other aspects of a higher mileage engine. ZDDP and additional detergents are the primary reason that I'd choose a high quality HM synthetic even if I didn't...

    Amsoil causing seeps?

I purchased my '07 Fusion with 105k miles about 15 months ago. I changed the oil immediately after purchasing with a Motorcraft filter and Pennzoil Platinum 5W20. At that point, perfectly dry underneath. Changed after 7k miles at 112k. Still dry. Changed to Pennzoil Ultra 5W20. Ran for 7k miles...

    Volvo transmission drain/ fill question

On my '07 Fusion (AWF21)(probably the same or similar to the Aisin in your Volvo) I used Toyota T-IV which is easier to get a hold of than branded 3309. To be clear, Toyota T-IV actually IS Mobil 3309. My assumption is that some multi-application fluid was in there prior to my ownership, and...

is maxlife ATF really THAT good?

Working great for a DIII spec. Shifts are getting smoother and quicker every day it seems (after approx 2k miles). It replaced fluid that was probably over 100k old on an original 190k transmission. I'll probably do one more drain and fill and top off with Lubegard Red to be sure.

Will old transmission fluid affect shift quality?

I'd go with MaxLife for the 4T60 as well. Having owned and maintained a half dozen GM full size cars powered by the 3800/4T6X powertrain, more with that exact transmission than not, I can tell you that transmission fluid maintenance is one of the most key aspects to both transmission longevity...

Cooper CS5 Grand Touring initial review -PICS-

I presently have a set of the new CS5 ULTRA Touring on the Avalon... I have to say, the wet traction is INCREDIBLE. I'm spoiled from driving at the limit with my Michelin Primacy MXM4s and Pilot Sport A/S3s I had on my Fusion, so I know where the line lies, and these are AMAZING! Those of you...

    Licensed alternatives for Mercon LV

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/3551387/1 If that can be of any help to you... I did a multi-drain/fill over several different intervals throughout the time I owned my 2011 (purchased at 36,000 miles, totaled at 86,000) and only found that clean fluid merely...

Ford 6F35: What have we learned?

So, I'm back. My trials came to an end on Oct 23 when the car was totaled out. I was rear ended hard by someone who wasn't at all paying attention. It's been a busy month since then. I think this is the first free moment I've had! Haha. I do want to say that I am almost certain that using...

    Tire noob questions about profiles

To follow up on the whole V-Rated tire thing, I really have never seen a direct correlation between comfort in tires and their speed ratings. Tire comfort and noise has more to do with the casing material (steel vs fiber, etc), tread compound and tread block shape(design). You can find many...

    Tire noob questions about profiles

Is it a Camry SE? What kind of tires are on it currently? What pressures are the tires currently at? As mentioned, this size isn't "low profile", which is merely a description of a tire, not a specification. NVH may have been what you were going after? Tires can contribute to NVH (Noise...

Discussion: Do We WAY Overthink Oil Choice?

I've been the differences in actual engine wear, not concerning engine cleanliness. I know that synthetic oils will slow internal engine wear, therefore, I use synthetic oil in anything I can. I'll use one example in particular. I have a customer that owns an 8th Gen Corolla, well known for...

    Wearever Rotor Quality? Advance Auto

I'd go with centric premium or stoptech (centric high performance). If not them, I decided on some Raybestos Advanced Technology rotors when I'd just recently done my brake job and I'm happy with them so far. My factory rotors would take nearly 30,000 miles to really warp anyways, so the jury is...

Ford 6F35: What have we learned?

It's funny to me that I've never hooked up a scantool to watch live data on this vehicle, since I always have on nearly every vehicle I've owned previous. I might just get myself another live data handheld to take a look at KR/Advance with premium vs regular. I'd like to go high dollar to see...

    2002 Silverado 5.3 Starter

It isn't wrong to assume a starter issue with that many miles. However, it's hard to diagnose via the web. If it were my truck, I'd want the peace of mind that my starter wasn't 12 years old with 270k miles on it. However, my experience with aftermarket (and yes, even well known brands such as...

    Tallahassee 's finest

They can't show respect because they can't wrap their minds around the bigger picture. What they lack is the perspective that law enforcement respecting individuals have, keeping in mind that everything would be utter chaos without order kept by police and the military. Why on earth would...
