I think that is a GREAT idea!! I have been very interested in Pentosin 5w40 or possibly the 10w40 syn blend for my Passat, but there is not much info on it. It would be nice to have a place to share ideas about these thicker oils that some of our European cars like!! Let's do it.

I may have not been clear with my post, I have no evidence thst RL is not a great oil, I just like that my car is quieter on start-up with Dino, it makes me feel all warm and fuzy!

I would have to agree with Fuelman, I tried Redline in my Passat with un-exceptional results. It always had a lot of cam chain noise when I first started it in the morning, now with Formula Shell 10w40 it will only make the noise for a split second or sometimes not at all. Overall the engine...

Aside from running no oil at all, the Ford 2.3/2.5 4cyl OHC motors are totaly bulletproof. I would put money on them being as good as anything from Toyota, Honda,etc. I am familiar with the rattle noise that you are speaking of.
