    Liqui Moly Ceratec

I bet that if you borescope each cylinder You will find some visible scoring - this is where your oil consumption was coming from. Even though visible, those scratches are filled in with the "glass-like" substance/layer that Ceratec seem to form. I did have luck on a couple of my customer's...

Does timing belt vs chain influence your used car decisions?

The 1MZ-FE is one of the best engine Toyota has ever made and that RX platform is pretty comfortable, quiet and practical, so, given a good maintenance record, it may be worth investing in a timing belt job. It is also very much possible to tackle it yourself - not a complicated job at all...

Best oil for high boost turbo car?

T6 is a good oil, but, pushing that much torque through stock internals, on that engine, is opening a whole new chapter for it and it won't be a very long one... That said, moving up a grade (RedLine 5W50) and monitoring oil and coolant temps along with a good tune that does NOT unleash full 550...

2021 Nissan Titan VK56DE - How specific of oil?

Yes, infact, the VK family ( VK45, VK50, VK56 ) seem to do very well on 40 weight oils.

    Anti Oxidation and Euro Oils

The discussion went this way because the rich westerners are actually very cheap people... I can give an example on the point of long OCIs not working well financially in the end: As I mentioned previously, I change the synthetic oil on both my heavy duty trucks between 10-12 thousand miles...

    Anti Oxidation and Euro Oils

Another example of manufacturers manipulating consumers: Samsung and LG would put, on their appliances, a sticker that says 10 years warranty... Would you buy the worst appliance based on that??? ....a lot of people do, unfortunately. Just like they trust Lifetime transmission oil changes and...

    Anti Oxidation and Euro Oils

It is spelled BULGARIA, not Bulgeria... Anyhow, I'm not only talking about Amazon, eBay has its fair share of fakes, even World PAC, that most mechanics shops use, have a lot of fakes, especially their Liqui Moly supply. Shops, like big chain ones (Walmart etc) has no fakes, yes. Back to...

    Anti Oxidation and Euro Oils

Haha, yes, a lot, Mostly not about oil:) @edyvw - may be you're dead :) Seriously, there is a lot counterfeits online - Amazon comes to mind... ...and yes, I'm not going into specific Japanese engines - there are better and worse ones, but nothing as bad as a VW or a BMW :)

    Anti Oxidation and Euro Oils

Just like T101, I am from Bulgaria, but I've lived in the US for over 15 years now and I can say, for sure, that there is more counterfeit products in the US, than any other place in the EU. That said, there are great oils (RedLine, Amsoil, Ravenol, Castrol) here that can go for 10000mi easy...

Using a lower octane fuel than recommended

I also have a 04 Toyota 4runner V6 which requires 87 octane and I have experimented using 91 octane which turned out to produce noticably better power and smoother idle even here, in Reno NV, at elevation above 4000ft. So... Each engine is different.

Using a lower octane fuel than recommended

I have an 04 infiniti FX45 with 190000 miles on the clock. It requires 91 octane, however, I live at elevation above 4000ft so I recently tried a full tank of 87 octane. I had no audible knock or any loss of power I could feel. What was weird is that I got about two more MPG on that tank -...

    Which oil for FJ Cruiser?

I run the Castrol European formula 0W40 in my 2004 4runner (same engine as your FJ) and the oem Toyota filter 90915-YZZD3. I found that using other than the OEM filter causes the chain rattle on start up. Mine has 250000 miles.
