I wonder if this Valvoline has a similar ester content to the ESP.

Both my Walmarts have plenty of oil. Very little Dexos licensed. PUP 0W-20 is $40 a jug.

    Valvoline $5 rebate on 5 qts 8/1/2026 - 7/31/2027

Did you get the free CQ EP filter with it? The current ad says “any” five quarts. They let me get the filters when I picked up the PP 10W-30 on clearance.

    Valvoline $5 rebate on 5 qts 8/1/2026 - 7/31/2027

You can still make a good deal on the bay boxes from Walmart. Last year, they gave me $20 per box through Venmo. Very easy. After reading the fine print, it looks like virtual cards this year. Perhaps they'll work with you on the math for maximizing bay box rebates.

New STP Max Performance S7317ML (Made in Vietnam) Cut Open

Several stores near me have a limited supply of the Max filters. Only a couple of rows of filters. Two stores have a full selection. Must be a slow rollout.

I guess trains break down too

About the 12:30 mark, you can hear the crew confirming they’re being instructed to work beyond the HOS law. Dispatcher confirms they’re being stretched to sixteen hours. They then want the initials of the company official instructing them to do so. That’s a pretty significant mess.

I guess trains break down too

You just can’t get in a hurry. Our mixed freights are even larger than coal trains now. I left the away-from-home terminal a few months ago with a train that was 21,000 tons and 14,000 feet long.

I guess trains break down too

Hogger shot the train and shut down all the dynamics. This was after clerks had failed to properly calculate the tonnage. This was crazy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Bernardino_train_disaster

I guess trains break down too

Just youtube “MU set-up” for locomotives. MU = multi-unit. We had a few trial runs with ECP coal trains years ago. In this air brake system, there was a communication line stretching the entire length of the train. When drawing the brakes, each car would exhaust and apply simultaneously...

I guess trains break down too

I handled one passenger engine one single time, over twenty years ago. I entrained the “City Of Asheville” as my third unit in the consist. This was a new Renault, and, presumably used in some sort of light commuter rail. It wasn’t obvious to me what service was intended for this locomotive...
