Reviving a 71 C10! Curious about suitable oils.

That question was settled on page 2 when I posted a picture of the oil I was thinking of using and a dozen people chimed in with 'yeah that'll be a good oil for it'. See: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/reviving-a-71-c10-curious-about-suitable-oils.381401/page-2#post-6871031 . I went...

It's also super super healthy inside! Fixed a big vacuum leak...the hose between the PCV valve and the intake manifold was so far gone it was spewing oil onto the exhaust and making quite the smokeshow...and installed a tach. A little twiddling later to get the idle mix and idle speed screws...

And quite reliable! Last week, came home from work, climbed in, twisted the key. 5 out of 5 times it started as easily as it did in that video! It is currently in 'waiting on parts to mail in' limbo. All four Goodyears are mounted but I had a rear brake stick on. Thought it just a broken...

Replaced my factory, inop oil pressure gauge with a numbers on the face unit courtesy of LMC Truck. Love what I'm seeing! And this is with that box of Havoline 10w30 I posted a pic of earlier. 👌

Yep. This thing's got a lot of sentimental value besides the whole 'it needs to be properly reliable if I'm gonna be driving it to work 5 days a week' aspect so I need to cross all my I's and dot all my T's getting it roadworthy again. It has been well cared for over the years and it deserves a...

Wiring is about as close to pristine as an unrestored 53 year old vehicle can be. Thankfully. A replacement harness wouldnt be a big job on a vehicle this simple, but I see no rush for it. None of my wires are a fire hazard and everything in the electrical system I need to be as safe as I can be...

Welded points? Annoying. Exploding the coil because it overheats running current through it for an extended time? 😬. Ye I use ACC unless I have the engine running 'cause I know points ignition systems really do not like being 'live' without firing. Do so a lot; when I'm grilling I drop the...

Large part of the appeal to vintage autos for me is experiencing them as they were originally designed. As such I am not planning on modernizing very much at all. I mean, hell, I will have a set of G78-15 bias ply tires mounted on a second set of 15x7 steelies for when I drive it to a car show...

Ye I am staying points on it. Got some white lituium grease for the point cam in there. What my dad used way back in the day and he was getting 30-35k miles from a set. Admittedly on hetter quality points, but still.

Part of my 5k PM service will be inspect and adjust points. They're 2 bucks a box. And I have a dwell tach. We will see how long these china points can live 👌. Also super easy to change on roadside if necessary.

Now if only WM stocked WIX filters. Alas, only choices...motorcraft, acdelco, frambombs, and inhouse. And I doubt they have a filter that fits my engine. As for the ignition...the points ignition is working without flaw so I am happy to run it. Dont understand people's aversion to points...

Vehicle you're looking forward to in 2025 (and beyond)

Ahh, yes, because someone daily driving a 50 year old vehicle is totally concerned about a complete nonissue fixed 40 years ago and which can easily be remedied by fitting a readily available race fuel cell if need be. 🤡 Come on bro, think for a moment. You REALLY think the minute fire risk is...

I'd take a Pinto or a Caprice or a Diplomat over anything sold today 🤷. After 40+ years the crsppy ones are long gone and its super easy to modify them to taste. Basically had truck drivelines in them anyway!

2014 Challenger long term review: Absolutely terrible.

The only one I have of it includes me giving it a very rude salute. Don't think the mods want me posting that pic lol.

2014 Challenger long term review: Absolutely terrible.

Funny man! Right vintage wrong type of car. I don't want fast or sporty in the slightest and, honestly, if my mom had listened to me five years ago this car would be someone else's problem entirely. I told her from the moment she brought it up 'DO NOT BUY THAT IT WILL BE TERRIBLE'. But no. She...
