LSJr I think has engrained the term oil shearing into people’s minds and very seldom does he mention that it’s 9.9 out of 10 times due to fuel dilution.
I see it so much on other forums, facebook groups, and in Youtube comments.
This on particular is a one way breather to let pressure out not in.
I see no point in it but was curious to what the benefits would be… which seams few and far between lol.
More so speaking on something pictured below. Not a PCV breather, I have a catch can on my truck which replaced the OEM PCV and I will say I have caught a lot of gunk over the last 16k miles.
Looking through search here on BITOG and could not find any *newer* information on this topic regarding newer cars pushing high horsepower/high boost so wanted to make a post.
Could anyone school me on the purpose of these crankcase breather that replace the oil fill cap?
Seen a claim that...
I had this done on my 5.3. From speaking with the tech that did my DOD/AFM delete said no chips or tunes will do it. you will need to do the full kit with Tuner...
Thanks! Yes, I am super pleased with this first run. Over this 8.5k oxidation is up +7 over VOA? Where do you draw the line regarding oxidation to tell the oil is spent? I remember @Hohn posted somewhere his personal preference is around +13 over VOA.

Yup.
I left the filter on and have another round of AC in. After I run another 6k in my wife’s car I will check the filter again (9k total in service miles with Mobil 1 Advanced Clean). Again, will prove nothing but I still think it will be a cleaner filter than Valvoline Restore and Protect...
I wouldn't count out the vast amount of knowledge in BITOG.
If you go through the trouble to do all of the testing you say and post it here, the people will surely view it and be appreciative of it, and others will just say it's a waste. Its your time/money do with it as you please;) (y)
