Calcium and Moly seem too high IMO for a break-in oil. But on the flip side I would have thought ZDDP would have been higher even for a 10w-30 HDEO. Regardless I'm glad that stuff is out of there.
Interesting one here, I have no idea what oil the dealer installed in this thing but I don't believe it was 15w-40 HDEO. Super low hours (27h) but oil was in the unit since it was purchased in Oct 2021 so I wanted to flush that out, get a baseline, and develop our moving forward strategy. Now...
I'm pretty sure they had the oil pan off the unit in 2014, and when I changed the oil that air filter was filthy from all the dust from off-road driving on the ranch. So probably a combination of sealers, but also way overdue air filter / pre-filter change. And not sure on Sodium, not sure if...
I recently picked back up managing some equipment for a ranch outside of Brady, TX. While this unit only had about 26h on the oil, it had been in there for almost 8 yrs due to very low use and nobody monitoring these things. I replaced it with Rotella T6 until I can establish what the actual...
Speediagnostix / Total Seal did a break down of 26 popular break-in oils which I found interesting.

As someone who is 600 miles into an LS3 break-in myself, I wish I had watched some of the videos from Lake up front (The Motor Oil Geek). I started with...
And that's why I continue to come here. Had no idea about TSB 09-011-20 or 09-013-23. Probably just saved my lifters there Bighorn2500, thank you! So as you stated, I'll be looking at 5w-40 options. Thanks!
And again I'm only running the VR1 conventional until I hit the 1K mark or so on the motor before switching. VR1 full synthetic 20w-50 is another one I'm considering along with Mobil 1 15w-50, Driven GP-1 20w-50, Amsoil Z-Rod 20w-50 and doing a little more research into HPL. With the old LS1 I...
Again typically the oil pressure is great. After an hour of running around town yesterday in 95+ temps the idle pressure at 1,000rpm was about 15psi (within GM's 10psi per 1K rpm, but again lower than what I'd like). At cold idle, warm idle, and even after 30m of idle the readings are much...
I can't figure out how to edit the original post, but I double checked my records. Original sample was Ram dealership fill when I bought the truck, which I assume would be Valvoline. 2nd fill was Amsoil ADN which seemed to struggle as viscosity dropped out of normal range. The last and most...
Not in the mountains, no. But the 36ft 10K lb RV is a far cry from a 3K lb car. I mentioned several trips with the RV, while also some runs hauling the 5.7L Tundra or the Jeep Unlimited Rubicion on the car hauler. I've only hauled the 3700 WS6 a few times, most of the runs on this oil were the...
This is a rebuilt motor, 6.2L aluminum block with upgraded pistons, rods, and factory crank. LS6 top end with ported 799 cylinder heads. Bearing tolerance seems loose compared to the data I have from the engine builder. Oil pressure is good and constant, but once you've run it for maybe an hour...
Lots of towing this round, 10K 36ft RV and multiple pulls of the Tundra, Jeep, and WS6 on the car hauler.
Make/Model: Cummins ISB 6.7L 2019+
Vehicle: 2019 Ram 2500
The first two runs were Amsoil ADN while this most recent is Amsoil DTT 10w-30. Current fill is once again the Amsoil DTT 10w-30...
