1978 Volare Wagon Slant Six Oil

+1 for spare ballast resistor in the glove box! Had a '74 Swinger as a dd 10 years ago. 225+904 combo will go on forever while the rest of the car will rot away from around it. I used to run 20W-50 Castrol in it. These things were designed to run on straight 30 weight in the first place, so...

Looking at an 89 Volvo 760 Turbo sedan

Long term Volvo addict here... 760 Turbo is most definitely a B230FT engine. '89 might still be LH-Jet 2.2 so you won't get the blinky box diagnostics with it. It won't drive like a BMW, no rear sway bar means plenty of body roll. T3 turbocharger spools slow, so left turns through traffic from...

    Co-worker just purchaced 2010 Volvo S40

That's the good old 5-cylinder white block engine that's been in production since the early 90's. It's not a piece of junk German motor that requires cocktail oils only so that it can grenade at 80K. 1yr / 7.5K on 5W-30 synthetic would be just fine, Volvo has used Castrol oils for ages if you...

Considering an upgrade to Win 7

I tested Win7 RC on a P4 (540J) with 1gb of RAM and it ran equal or better than XP on it, unlike Vista. Personally, I would not waste money upgrading an XP box to Win7. You can't upgrade the RAM on that PC to take advantage of 64-bit OS's, and there isn't anything that will run on 7 but won't...

    mann airfilter?

Great filters, that's all I use on my turbo Volvo. I believe that's their OE supplier. Generally regarded as the best paper filter in those circles. Very mann-ly pink color on the rubber edge, too.

    Microwave Service Life

I had a GE spacemaker microwave with a rotary knob in my old apartment 3 years ago that had an early 1984 manufacturing date on it. Worked just fine when I moved out.

    Panera Bread

Typical white American fake Italian deli / bakery. They're popular because they have an upscale image and they make people feel like they're eating "healthy artisan sandwiches" while they're actually chowing down on an oily sodium bomb. And no, that's not a group IV base stock oil either.

Buying used air compressors - yea or nay?

Remember the new Harbor Freight coupon rules - You can't use the 20% off coupon for air compressors or tool chests anymore. Service carts are still okay, including the 4- and 5-drawer ones.
