Mobil Delvac 1300 10w-30 my Excursion starts are smoother than with a 15w-40, it gets even better with old Esso XD3 0w-30. You don't need a 0w-30 in your climate but the 6.0 still prefers a 30wt.
I had a shop not put in the oil filter I supplied after they did some work for me, a Mann filter to...

Can you get me one of those with xd3 0w-40, 0w-30, t-6...
I would go for bypass filtration on your 8.1 if you can handle extending your drain intervals, with guidance from UOA's. There would be no benefit of the bypass kit if you stick to 3k even 5k OCI's.
Can you fit a bigger filter in the current location?
What filter brand do you currently use?

I would bet that the T6 and PP have very different CCS specifications, despite both being 5W-XX.
That is what I was thinking the whole time I was reading...

I am waiting on UOA back on my T-5 0w-30, I only went 5k on this run (1st UOA on my 2005 Ford Excursion 6.0L). Depending on the oil 5k-7.5k is a normal run in a 6.0L psd, due to the HEUI shearing oils pretty good.

If I don't go to bulk dealers I hardly see those oils either. I see XD3 at...

UOA's can be useful tools to tell you how the oil is holding up and give you some idea on how the engine is doing, but I wouldn't consider it concrete fact.
I remember BuickGN having a good UOA...
