    Wife's CR-V needs struts.

HL Mando are a good manufacturer but given how low they price their quick struts, I’m skeptical of how good they must be. They may be capable of making great struts but their quick struts are obviously built to a price point.

What brakes do you guys use?

I wasn’t as impressed with the ProActs as I hoped. The included clips needed a lot of manipulation with pliers for everything to seat correctly. Out of the box, they bent inwards too much and kept the pads from sliding. And this was after fully refinishing the surface of the caliper bracket. The...

    Wife's CR-V needs struts.

Here’s how I’d approach it. If you expect another 100k out of this car, OEM Honda, no question. Any less, KYB or Bilstein should be fine. But I’d still get OE mounts and bearings if you can. KYB and Bilstein are great options but they don’t put the same effort into aftermarket as their OEM...

Driving to Chicago for an extended weekend. Which pizza place to visit?

It’s been about 7 years since I lived there but I used to be able to go on a whim and be seated pretty quickly between 7-10pm after the dinner rush. Regardless, It’s worth the wait. I still think about that pizza from time to time.

Driving to Chicago for an extended weekend. Which pizza place to visit?

You'll hear Lou Malnati's, Gino's East, and Giordanos the most and you should do those for deep dish. They are excellent. However, the locals know about Pequods. It was my favorite when I lived there. What makes their deep dish special is a caramelized cheese crust.

    Motive Power Bleeder

Master cylinder cap adapter. More for the Japanese style. Euro should be fine on its own. Because the Japanese caps aren’t threaded on, they seal by 2 o-rings that push against the sides of the neck of the master cylinder reservoir opening. They’re a little more finicky.

    Motive Power Bleeder

I just used one for the first time yesterday and loved it. Used the Orion brand. Easily worth the money. Wish they had a cap for a Honda clutch reservoir so I could speed through that as well. There is a brand SMOTIVEPRO on Amazon that has just about every cap out there for about $15 give or...

    Honda Fit pressure bleed experience

There were no references for the Honda Fit for pressure bleeding the brakes so I wanted to post my experience for future people searching for a reference. I did a brake fluid exchange with Honda DOT 3 as it had been 3 years since the last. There is a CTA cap that people use for the Honda master...

Lifting front jack point from the side

Hadn’t considered the control arm - felt more comfortable using the jack points listed in the FSM but good backup. Sadly too tall and still not long enough of a reach - needs to be about 5 inches max to squeeze in. This is the bad boy Honda recommends for the Fit...

Lifting front jack point from the side

FWIW, thought about ramps to get the jack under from the front but don’t have much storage space so trying to avoid buying those.

Lifting front jack point from the side

The Honda Fit has a front-center jack point way back behind the engine on the crossmember. I’m not aware of any jacks <$800 that can access it from the front. Many people have gone in from the side with a low profile jack just fine and my jack can fit this way. The handle has enough room for...

Question on 'flushing' an AC system?

Me too. I mean it’s getting to the point where some shops are even subcontracting it to AC specialists. One of my cars kept freezing up the evaporator and it wasn’t a straightforward issue. After a Honda dealer and a reputable indy couldn’t fix it, it made me realize how much expertise there is...

Kyb strut plus or advance auto premium struts help me choose!

You need a diagnosis. Firing the parts cannon gets old fast.

    Flush, drain, or do nothing?

Yeah it should be fine. GM used to spec dexcool for the Saturn Vue with the Honda J35 in it. Never heard about any issues.
