    Project Cobra

Windshield mounted tonight! Iowa state inspection set for Friday August 14th. DMV appointment scheduled for Thursday August 20th. The clock is ticking but I feel good about things. Worse case a couple more vacation days and the timeline will be solved.

what a productive weekend! We got ~3" of rain Friday and Saturday here in the Quad Cities so I plugged away in the garage. I also spent the day out there today. Lot's of progress. Hood mounted, latches installed. Doors mounted, latches installed. Trunk mounted, latch installed. I ordered new...

Daimler Truck will close their Portland, OR plant

Not shocking. The Carolinas are pretty business friendly. I bet they save money on plant consolidation on top of it.

    Project Cobra

Well another productive day today. I took another vacation day and did some running around with the boss. We needed to get me a suit for a wedding we have in Canada near the end of August. I have lost almost 110lbs so my old one clearly doesn't fit. Then it was off to Sam's Club for a few...

Oil change interval for heavy use Predator 5000 inverter generator

I go 100hrs in my Wen inverter generator using HDEO 10w30 or 15w40. I would do the same with his. Buy some store brand HDEO and roll on. If you want to go longer I'd run a 5w40 HDEO.

What are you working on today?

exactly! I had a boss once say that there are some customers you just can't afford to keep... In his reference it made perfect sense. Yes it is hard to turn away customers, but at what expense do you keep them... Sometimes it isn't worth it.

    Project Cobra

I took a half day of vacation today and spent some time working on the car. I have the body mounted now, the "Kleiner" modifications for the quick jacks in place and the tail lights mounted. Tomorrow and Friday I will continue with front lights, turn signals, quick jacks and then doors, hood and...

No more wood to be stored near home, rodent wants the wood

We use a Jawz rat trap or Jawz mouse trap. It depends on what we are catching. Lately it has been chipmunks. We don't use peanut butter any more. The ants like it and makes a terrible mess and you have to clean it. We use sunflower seeds. Catch one, dispose, reset and reload multiple times...

I don't think I can go back to gas vehicle due to fuel costs

if you are buying new EV's to offset the cost of gas then I don't get it. I haven't had a car payment in ~5 years and don't want one. We drive our 12+ year old vehicles and fix them when it is needed. Gas is cheaper than a car payment IMO.

    Project Cobra

Somewhat productive day yesterday and today. I cut the out turn off of both side pipes and welded in the Car Chemistry inserts. I did not use either cap on the center tube after talking with Ken from CC. I am concerned about too much back pressure and he agreed. He is confident these will take...

    E85 making a come back?

Here in eastern Iowa, it is plentiful. We use it in our 2014 T&C which is flex fuel compatible. The price gap for E85 to E15 has closed in the summer months here, but for the most part still remains a viable option for us. We see ~20% hit in mileage but the price is ~25%+ difference. This...

I need some advice on a failing corner of stone foundation

Probably could use a couple better pictures to help diagnose, but has it been this way for a while? I'm wondering if the downspout plays a piece. Water or freezing could have caused the damage. Cleaning anything loose out is going to be key. You also need to ensure there is no structural...

    Project Cobra

I brought the body home on Friday. We haven't had measurable rain in several weeks and of course it poured when I brought it home. I had several spots to peel old duct tape and foam off of. I used some 3M adhesive remover to get the residue off. I then washed it with my RV soap that is intended...

    Filter Recommendation for My Fleet!

FWIW, I use OEM Fleetguard on my 2012 Ram CTD and Mopar on the 2014 T&C. It's a mixed bag on the 2005 Jeep, but usually Purolator or Motorcraft FL400, the same filter for my JD mower.
