    Stoddard solvent availability / questions

Hi all – I've been reading up on Stoddard solvent, and it seems like a great option for cleaning some machines and even paper (I want to try dry cleaning some dirty paper money). But I'm having trouble locking down exactly what it is, and whether it's always labeled as "Stoddard solvent". I'm...

    Post office and intelligence.

Drones. Amazon started testing flying drones a few years ago, so I wonder how far out they are this point. A few years is a long time for companies like Amazon, so I expect them to have made significant progress in that span. Maybe by 2025?

    Post office and intelligence.

The USPS is a coercive monopoly. Coercive monopolies are consistently poor performers in all the areas that we would care about, like efficiency, customer service, innovation, quality, etc. The reasons for these dynamics should be obvious to most people (I'm a social psychologist, so...

    Lube points on EVs

Hi all – I looked at Tesla's recommended maintenance for the Model 3, and all it talks about is the cabin air filter, tire rotation/balance, "testing" the brake fluid every two years (not sure if that's a formal thing with a machine, or a Mark 1 Eyeball test), and one other thing I can't...

    Tesla new test drive process...

It sounds cool, though I assume they'll have more options than just the no-advisor scenario. In my experience, dealer salesmen are not useful at any point before, during, or after a test drive. When it comes to vehicle/product knowledge, they always know quite a bit less about the car than I...

    Grease compatibility chart and info

I mostly hoped you'd communicate to whomever you were trying to communicate with, since you left everything so unclear, even who you were talking to. There was no way for anyone to do anything, and the browser bit was extremely confusing. No browser will render a huge paragraph any differently...

    Grease compatibility chart and info

I still don't know what you're referring to. It you mean the single long paragraph in the original post, that won't be affected by browsers at all. A browser won't add paragraph breaks to text. But I'm not sure what you meant, since "mess" implied something that was broken or jibberish.

    Grease compatibility chart and info

@Dave9 Who or what are you referring to? The original post on top, the comment before yours, or something else? I don't understand the bit about two different browsers – what is a "mess"? What would different browsers do?

Wells Fargo stops all lines of personel credit....

Good points. I forgot about credit cards. I don't like the network effects squeeze play the banks pull on merchant fees for credit card transactions. I mean Visa and Mastercard mostly. Once they got to a certain size, they could charge exorbitant fees totalling 3% or more. Merchants are...

Wells Fargo stops all lines of personel credit....

It's a mystery to me how banks make money in this era, where all their loan activity is. It doesn't seem like banks like Wells Fargo loan to businesses much anymore, at least not small to medium sized businesses. And now the end of the personal lines of credit further removes them from the...

Are there filter size standards? (And for filter wrenches.)

Thanks, I looked but missed the whole Filtration section for some reason. I thought the used oil analysis section was the last section. I wonder if I can move the thread.

Are there filter size standards? (And for filter wrenches.)

The filter measurements aren't listed though. I mentioned that in the post, with a link.

Are there filter size standards? (And for filter wrenches.)

Hi all - - I don't have any experience with changing my own oil and buying filters, and I'm bumping into some issues. Are there any filter size standards? I figured there would be, e.g. "Yeah, I need a 2B filter and my buddy needs a 3C..." If I go to AutoZone's website, they don't even provide...

Optimal oil for lethally cold weather, Jeep 4.0L, parked outside

I don't remember which lake, but South Bend is supposed to suffer from a "Lake Effect" climate. It's unusually cold for Indiana.
