Unless you are starting your engine at about minus 35 F, there is no difference in "dry start" (however you choose define that) performance between a 0w-30 and a 5w-30. Lots of things to worry about...but this isn't one of them.

I did a run of PP Euro LX 0w30 in my B48. It held up well for 5000 miles, as expected. It's one of several good choices.

The last line said: "I intend to continue this OCI for another 10k miles and then sample again." I'd imagine the decision will be made to change or continue based upon that OCI analysis.

I've read most of this thread, but it's been over many days, and I don't remember it all. Forgive me if this has been brought up: Hybrid engines that do not run continuously must have a relatively low oil temperature. IF THAT IS TRUE, compare the viscosity of a 0w8 at that operating oil temp...

I ALWAYS put 0w-20 in my Toyota 2.5 Dynamic Force Engine. And I put 0w30 in my Lexus 3.5 engine. And 0w30 in my BMW B48 engine. Those two have 0w20 listed as the primary oil. Certainly doesn't hurt anything...

That's an acceptable amount of what I call "scharf" in the pleats. Enjoy a long engine life with that vehicle!
