    Pennzoil 5W/20 SL, 5954 mi, 03 Civic

Can anyone compare the rest of the UOA above with SM Pennzoil? I don't have a VOA handy. Do the other items in my UOA match up with SM?

    Pennzoil 5W/20 SL, 5954 mi, 03 Civic

farrarfan1, No, this was definitely SL. I bought the oil before SM was available. I used the last of my SL in the latest oil change and have a couple of cases of SM that haven't been touched yet. Thanks for the feedback, TooSlick. I think you're right. We'll see for sure on the next oil...

    Pennzoil 5W/20 SL, 5954 mi, 03 Civic

Thanks for the replies so far. I've got the last of my SL Pennzoil 5W20 in there now with another Premium Plus 24458. I'll change it out at 30k miles and resample. After that I've got 2 cases of SM Penn 5W20 bought at 1.39/qt during Pep Boys grand reopening.

    Pennzoil 5W/20 SL, 5954 mi, 03 Civic

Just got this in from Blackstone. I intended to change at 5000 but had 3 straight weekends get filled up with other commitments. This is my 2nd oil analysis on this car (doing them once per year). The only thing that bugs me is the lead. All wear metals dropped per 1000 miles, but lead nearly...

    Help-strange electrical problem

Thanks everyone for the advice. It is much appreciated. I will print this thread out for my friend to look over. Best regards, Tim

    Stories of wierd car problems

I caught a cat in my old Mustang 5.0 engine. It ended up with its back legs caught between the serpentine belt and one of the pulleys. We loosened the belt, he plopped out, and immediately started walking around us, rubbing against our legs in gratitude. I was shocked there were no broken bones...

    Help-strange electrical problem

I'm trying to help out a friend to whom I sold a '95 Hyundai Accent about a year ago. He is having a strange problem that we can't seem to solve. It started with the headlights occasionally glowing brighter (about once per evening drive). The alternator was tested at Autozone and determined to...

    '04 Odyssey oil?

I have an 03 Civic EX and 03 Accord LX 2.4L. I did it both ways and judging by the latest oil analyses of the two cars, it didn't matter. On the Civic, I changed the first oil out at 1900 miles, followed by a 3000 mi OCI and finally settling at my goal of 5000. The analysis of the 5000 (oil in...

    Pennzoil 5W-20, 4182 mi, 03 Honda Accord 2.4L

At $1.39/qt for the Pennzoil, I think it might be more cost-effective to do an AutoRX cleaning every 50,000 miles than spend $4-5/qt at each oil change. I don't think my OCI could be extended much farther even with synthetic since the car typically sees 4000 miles or less in 6 months. I won't go...

    Pennzoil 5W-20, 4182 mi, 03 Honda Accord 2.4L

The only oddity I see is how low the moly is in the 2nd sample. VOA shows 186, this sample is 129. Any ideas? Did Pennzoil reformulate? Second sample shows much lower wear, improvements in silicon, fuel, and flashpoint. First sample had approx. 65% city miles. Second sample had approx. 40%...

Researching compact cars for my wife. Opinions wanted.

I got an 03 Civic EX last fall for $16.5k (AAA discount, which equates to fleet cost). No haggling. Just call the fleet manager at your local dealer and ask them if they offer AAA discounts. Of course, you need to be a member of AAA...If I was a big haggler (which I'm not) I might've been able...

How many people here prefill their filter?

On my '03 Accord 2.4 I can fill the filter about 1/2 full before installing it. The filter mounts horizontally, so it's not too hard to get it on half-full without spilling any. Just keep it vertical as you push it up (with left hand) through the various braces, then use your right arm/hand to...

How to increase font size in "code" command

Thanks, I'll try that. What I've been doing is just typing the numbers straight into the message box on this message board. So, between the two "code" commands (UBB Code) I just type the data straight in and in the message box the text/font looks identical to everything else that's not between...

How to increase font size in "code" command

When posting UOA results using the Code command for proper formatting, is there a way to make the font size larger? I found on my last UOA post the result code was so small it was difficult to read. Thanks.

How do I get a Dyson analysis? What do I get?

Can someone clarify the pricing? Is it $35 for the Dyson package PLUS $20 to Blackstone for the analysis? Or is it $35 TOTAL to both Blackstone and Dyson combined? Could you purchase the Dyson package after the fact, or must it be pre-purchased when you send your oil for analysis. My thinking...
