I got the car for $13,000 USD. I considered it a good deal. Many around the same mileage go for around $20k.
If the engine isn't damaged, I don't want to sell the car. If I do sell it, I'm disclosing everything.
I am starting to think the previous owner is being dishonest about something. I called him and asked him if he poured additive in the oil and he paused and said, "I don't think so"... What kind of answer is that? Either you did or you didn't.
I now suspect that he poured bar's leak liquid...

Plus, not sure if a simple PPI would have discovered the shavings/flakes or whatever it is
So the shavings aren't as gritty as I thought it'd be.
When I rub the oil and shavings with just my thumb and pointer finger, I don't feel it at all. When I rub the oil against the drain pan itself, I can hear it rubbing against the plastic, however I can't feel it on my finger.
I did cut open the filter
That's all after I drained it out of the drain pan. I'm sure there's more in the oil pan itself.
I'll feel it later and report back
No low oil pressure code.
No metal picked up with magnet
Oil filter only caught a little as the filter was not coated with gold.
Car drives great through all RPM
Called PO and he said he didn't add any additives.
Guess I should keep driving it and see...
I'm not that familiar with UOA... Will the testing show if it's copper from a bearing vs oil cooler? Also, I assume there will be more metal parts if it's indeed the bearings getting grinded down.
I used a strong magnet on the material and it did not pick up anything.
Fingers crossed.
