    Happy Birthday, Betty White!

Saw this two years ago and had to save it. It must still be true, Chuck Norris is two years older!

Ever had heated or cooled seats?

My 2007 Cadillac has a heated steering wheel and heated and cooled seats. Just awesome! The Texas panhandle shifts from zero degrees in the winter to over a hundred in the summer, so they both get a workout.I think that seat cooler must have been invented by a crazy Russian named Frostyabalzoff!

    I miss Rodney Dangerfield

Rodney comes home at night and sees a guy running across the street naked. 'Hey, what's the big idea' he shouts, 'This is a nice neighborhood.' 'This is your fault,' the guy answers. 'I wouldn't be doin' this if you hadn't come home early.' Do a search for Rodney on You Tube and laugh for hours.

Is there anyone left in the world who isn't a FB user?

I thought I would be the last holdout, but my niece signed me up and built a page two years ago. I mostly just keep up with family. It's nice for that. I post a few funny items, but that's about it. My big complaint is people who think their life is sooooooo interesting. Seeing someone post a...

I do not like the way BITOG is now coming up

I have a vision in my head of software companies where burned-out overweight old hippies in hawaiian shirts with pony tails and sandals sit around all day playing video games. Near the end of the month, they realize they will have to show something for the way they've used their time, and they...

    Austin, TX

I forgot to mention places to go. I second the capitol building. It is impressive. It was the largest state capitol until Nebraska and Louisiana built skyscrapers.(lots of tradition there) If you have time, The Alamo in San Antonio is an awesome place. Texas will never split itself up as people...

HF Tool Cabinets and Chests - Take another look

Over on the Garage Journal site, worshiping the HF tool boxes has become something of a religion. Some of these guys are really addicted. You can't really blame them since the the value to price ratio is so high. The latest fad is using the 44" boxes as the basis of a permanent workbench. I've...

    Tearolator Experiment.

The ones that tore were made in 2012 and 2013. I think the ones I have left were made in 2011. (I'm too lazy to look up the code. LOL) Anyway, I bought these at a good price, so it's not a great loss to remove them early. Better than tossing them. To answer another question: I'm leaving the oil...

    Tearolator Experiment.

I've been reading DesertRatR's thread on shorter oil filter intervals and it reminded me that I need to report on my 'experiment'. I have a stash of old Pure Ones for my Cadillac. I decided to run them 2,500 miles (half a normal oil change) and cut them open. After examining the three filters...

    income tax question

Retired CPA here. As other posters have mentioned, traditional IRS audits are being done at the lowest rates ever. The manual work of examining returns has been replaced by computer programs that search for unusual amounts and relationships. What has been almost universal is the matching of...

How many of you use Rock Auto?

As others have said, the service and selection are outstanding. Generally prices are very competitive, but they are high on a few items, such as rebuilt master cylinders. The core charges and return shipping are a deal-breaker for me. Shipping is usually a problem for me, especially trying to...

oil to use to clean foam filters

I used to wash out the foam filter wrap on my El Camino with Gunk engine cleaner and then rinse it out with water and then let it dry before oiling. Over time the foam stretched out of shape. I'll be washing my new filter with dish detergent. I'll need to take good care of it. Those things are...

What year model is this car?

I agree with other posters that this is a 1955 model. The first tip-off is the vertical front windshield post, indicating a wrap-around windshield. Has to be a 55 or 56. This car appears to have a circular parking light contained in the grille cavity. The 56 had a parking light housing that...
