Luxury cruise ship lost engines on Sat due low level of lubricating oil

I wonder if these engines lack dry sump lubrication. Maybe oil starvation set in when the ship was listing sideways?

I'd love to see a tear down and pics of the engines in this cruise ship: https://www.reuters.com/article/nor...-of-lubricating-oil-norway-idUSO9N20V01A Quote OSLO, March 27 (Reuters) - The engines of a luxury cruise ship that narrowly escaped disaster during a storm off Norway on Saturday...

Is All New Furniture Junk Anymore ?

Even high quality brands like Henredon, Ethan Allen, Pennsylvania House, and Stickley commonly use veneers of expensive wood laid over a cheaper substrate of "solid hardwoods." Almost no one makes furniture of solid walnut, ash, maple, or even oak any longer.

Looking for good broadcast spreader on Black Fri

Have you looked at wally world? I'd recommend one with pneumatic tires and 50-100 lb. capacity: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Tow-Broadcast-Spreader/10727805

Alternative to Fram PH8170 filter for a Briggs?

Alternative to Fram PH8170 filter for a Briggs?

Are there any alternatives you would recommend to a Fram PH8170 or Briggs and Stratton 492932 oil filter for a 25 hp V-twin Briggs and Stratton engine? At ~ $12-15 it looks as if these filters are relatively expensive because they are so short and have few applications. It looks like I can fit a...

New Toyota Camry uses 0W-16 or SAE 16 weight motor

I just learned that new cars from Toyota will recommend 0W-16 or SAE 16 weight motor oil. I searched and couldn't find a thread on this so I am reposting an article on 16 weight motor oil here. This seems interesting: http://www.oilspecifications.org/articles/sae-16-viscosity-grade.php...

    Kohler Courage engines

iirc, the v-twin courage engines are based on the Kohler command and are very good design. The single cylinder engines are said to be less reliable. Apart from ordinary maintenance (oil change, air filter, spark plug) I imagine the only other thing to do is make sure the bolts and dowel pins...

Shopping for new riding mower, John Deere?

What do you make of the cubs with efi? They offer both single cylinder and v-twins with efi depending on whether you visit a big box or a dealer. These engines appear to be priced lower than the kohler or kawasaki engines, but I wonder if they might actually be better built.

Shopping for new riding mower, John Deere?

Here is a review I posted recently on another forum comparing my brand new D160 to a 5 year old Cub Cadet LTX1050 that I use to mow my father's lawn. Personally I am very disappointed with the D160 because it transmits so much vibration through the steering wheel: Quote: John Deere D160 vs Cub...
