Nice bikes. Other posters have stated good recommendations about oil and such. It is probably much more important that you change these per schedule than what you use. I use redline oils in my big twin with good results thus far.
Harleys are easy to maintain, as they have electronic ignitions...
I think it was a lack of maturity, intelligence and common sense that was the cause.
If ever there was an good argument for a tiered licensing system, it is these 150 + mph stock motorcycles that any kid with a few bucks can buy.

Since Harleys do not have a sight-glass for checking fluid levels, each can be a pain initially.
On my Harley FatBoy:
First, get yourself a good motorcycle jack or stands to keep the bike up level. Make sure the bike is warmed up as the aluminum engine expands a quite a bit and can throw off...
I bought a AFE air filter for my 2006 Jeep with the Hemi. The filter does not fit the factory air box.I plan on buy either a K&N filter or a Greenfilter.Which one is better?Any help would be great. Thanks Joe

I used both a K&N and a Green filter in an '04 Avalanche. No...
I use a K&N HP-1007 and it seems to work very well indeed (based on Blackstone labs report). I looked at one I have on the shelf and it has a silicone ADBV.
Yes, I admit, there is certain fashion thing too, what with the welded nut on top of the can....

When I looked at the differences between GF-3 and GF-4, one thing that came to mind was that the cold start up wear was better on the newer spec but that hot temp wear was better on the GF-3.

Hi guys:
I have been absent for awhile...Nice to see that BITOG is still running strong.
Now then, I recently moved to Siskiyou Couty, California, which is just below the Oregon border. Temps run (currently) in the teens and low twenties, so I switched from 10w-30 to 5w-30.
No Kendall to be...
I have had good luck with them (except *maybe* one bad one) and the latest UOA on my Avalanche showed "good filtration [and] low solubles" using the smaller filter (HP-1007).
The SOTP view also seems to suggest that the filter works well.
I know Patman uses K&N oil filters and he posts some of...
My 98 K2500 had the very same problem/issue. A fluid change cleared it up, though. I suspect it is due to the fact that the front diff spends almost all of its time coasting and not generating heat.
Also, check to see if the front diff has a vent hose and/or is vented. If so, this may help...
I think I would like to be driving behind you (at some distance) so I could see what it looks like for a differential to blow up....
In my view, if you want a great diffy lube that is hand made, as it were, I would call up Molakule and he will fix you up.

I noticed no gains in MPG or power when I had the reusable filters in my 5.3L Avalanche (used K&N, Green and AirHogg).
The likely truth is that very few of us will see any upside benefit or downside risk to using these filters.
Best of luck and happy 4th of July to all.

P.S. On the...
Here was my plan: when I changed the oil I used a Napa Gold, and will plan to do an UOA to see what the results are.
Although I am one of the "die-hard" 3K mile fellows, I am actually considering stretchin it out a bit.
Thanx

From my younger days I know that Kendall used to be a neighborhood brand, but the only place that seems to carry it are the Firestone dealers, who use it as their bulk oil.
I drive to the Sacramento area and get it by the case from an oil wholeseller. I get it for around 5 bucks a bottle. I...
