    Supertech Synthetic vs QSUD

If you like Quaker State's advertisements, by all means spend the extra $$ to support them. Otherwise, ST meets/exceeds spec and is all (likely more than) you need. I choose ST.

    How to stop corroding batteries?

Dielectric grease around the mating surfaces.

Can I Use Dexron 6 in my 2012 Honda Civic EX-L?

+1 on the Honda ATF DW-1. No way I'd put Dex 6 in that tranny.

Is All DOT 3 Brake Fluid the Same?

I mix DOT 3's all the time. Prestone, AZ, AAP, Super Tech (ST). They all work. I've stuck with ST lately since they're usually the cheapest. As long as it meets spec, works for me.

Who makes a good carpet shampooer?

Owned a Hoover and found it was very cheaply made. Plastic that easily breaks. Have to be careful with the bucket and attachments. It cleaned OK, but had to go over spots several times.

Who is Good for Batteries Nows?

I've been very happy with Johnson Controls batteries over the past few decades. Shopped and bought the Johnson Controls (Gold) battery with the lowest price. Never a problem. I have noticed East Penn making major moves in the market though. Napa, O'Reilly, WalMart, Sam's, Diehard...I'd see East...

rental car. do they even check for damage?

Yes, they check. Some more closely than others. I had a crack in a bumper once. It happened, no disputing it. Unable to avoid a large piece of retread on the highway. It was under a grand. Good idea to take a video when walking around the vehicle. Look underneath too. They normally look for...

    Havoline ProDs

Couldn't imagine it being the oil. Winter blend fuel suggestion is very possible. Try different gas stations.

spark plug removal - best practice?

I just remove 'em with the engine cold. Try to keep pressure straight down on the plug and not on the ratchet handle. Back and forth if it's a bit stubborn, but don't muscle it. Penetrating fluid would be OK if it doesn't want to come out, but I've never had to go that route.

Supertech oil who makes it now

'ncstee...' - Best way is to go to this web page and plug in the UPC directly off the bottle: http://msds.walmartstores.com/

    High detergent dino

High Mileage oils typically boast higher detergents. Quaker State HM is $13.47 a jug @ WalMart.

    can't patch a plugged tire?

In the past 2 decades, I've had two tires that the tire shop deemed not repairable due to the puncture being on the shoulder. Plugged them both, and they lasted the life of the tire. One only had 3K miles on them when it happened. I kept an eye on them for any swelling, but it never happened.

    Hyundai Transmission Fluid SP-IV-RR replacement?

Found this on a Genesis forum. The poster wrote Valvoline and asked about compatibility with a 2012 Genesis: "FYI: I just got the official letter from Valvoline that their lube is in Hyundai spec:" "Ben, thank you for contacting Valvoline for your automatic transmission fluid application. For...

Odd situation. What would you do?

They'll be fine. Go with the tires mounted on the vehicle. It's not like a Civic is going to be plowing through heavy snow anyway.
