For what it's worth, Mobil 1 ESP X4 0w-40 is a VW spec gas and light diesel rated motor oil, as well as Porsche C30 spec, and I believe is required in the newest Corvette models. It is a top notch Group IV PAO and 8 % Ester Group V base blend motor oil. Watch and learn.

Can't say for sure yet what the base is for the motorcycle Race 4T 10w-40 is from Mobil, but if this is any indication, I think I'm going to be pleased when I find out. BTW all of the Mobil motor oils tested here are also gasoline rated ESP as well as light diesel rated motor oils.

No where does my owner's manual recommend a 20w-50. 40 wt max. The bike is ancillary information, the question was about the oil base for the 40 wt.
