Motul Bro, Liqui Moly Bro, Rotella Bro.... Fram is trash...
:ROFLMAO:
The Fram synthetic endurance is one of the best off the shelf filters you can buy, it's wire backed and has excellent small particle efficiency.
PUP 0w20 is also an excellent choice. I'd stick with this choice.
OK, update on this engine and truck. Replaced the Cam and lifters in June or July of 2023. 2 months and 10k miles later, it dropped a valve, and put a massive hole in the #6 piston. Truck sat for a bit, before I dropped a brand new 6.4L long block in it.
Finally tore down the old 5.7L, and...
Mobil 1 0W40. It's a track rated oil, has a nice shot of zinc (1000ppm), and can really take the abuse. It also tends to be regarded as a cleaning oil, with a stout detergent add pack, so no issues running it for a good amount of time vs typical racing oils.
You can use any SAE 40 grade oil...
I didn't get a chance to cut open the filter with the original fill of R&P in it, but it has a fill of R&P now with about 4k on it that I will cut open and post eventually.
Mobil 1 FS 0w40 :)
The 4.6 will get along with pretty much anything you put in it, from a 5w20 to a 15w50.
All the "the tolerances are too tight for anything other than 5w20" from the forums is BS.
With that being said, plenty of 4.6s make it past 300k on 5w20.
I'd use a good 5w30 or...
Lucas isn't going to hurt anything, but it isn't going to help anything either, All it does is bring the oil up a grade while diluting the add pack.
With that being said, you deserve better than this crap man, let her boyfriend deal with this.
They will throw a notifier code (P1521) based on oil pressure relative to oil temp on anything other than 5w20. This will not set a check engine light. I've run 0w40 and up to 15w50 in 5.7ls both eagle and pre eagle without issue. They will be happy with pretty much anything you put in there...
Mobil 1 0W40 would be an excellent choice if out of warranty. The 392 specs 0W40, and has identical clearances. The Mobil 0w40 was the original SRT oil before the switch to pennzoil.
Replaced the rod and piston on the affected cylinder. (new).
Both heads were replaced, the rockers were soaked in marvel mystery oil for a couple weeks, and the pan was cleaned very well, anything remaining would have been under the front cover or on the pistons, there wasn't much sludge on the...
I did have a combination of mobil 1 0w40, rotella, pennzoil platinum, valvoline maxlife and whatever other half full bottles I had lying around for the engines first after repair change as a flush, although it probably was in the crank case for less than 100 miles, so this wasnt the first change...
