Stinky Used Oil - 2011 Hyundai Oil Change

Above is an excerpt from the owners manual -- 5W-20 is recommended for "fuel economy" (aka CAFE). 5-30 QSUP is just fine.

Stinky Used Oil - 2011 Hyundai Oil Change

No, the 1.8 "Nu" in the 2011 Elantra is MPI. What was the OCI and type of oil previously used?

    Shell BP merger

Majority of the quick lubes here in Houston metro are Valvoline... whether it be VIOC or various other brands. VIOC has acquired quite a few indies recently... mostly Kwik Kar franchises. Jiffy Lube is of course PZ, and there are a small amount of other indie PZ quick lubes. Take5 of course...

Best cell phone carrier for the money?

This has been my experience with the "budget" (MVNO) carriers as well... Mint, US Mobile, and even one of the cable company branded mobile services. Two devices, same model, same location, same signal strength -- MVNO will be unusable, while direct service from the carrier will have great...

New Trader Joe’s opens across the street from existing location. Both staying open.

This reminds me of a set of Shell gas stations near my old office. There are three of them, all of which are Shell-corporate owned and operated. I am sure they were different brands at one point, but they've all been Shells as long as I've been here. The Southeast corner has an ancient Jack in...

APC still the go to for UPS?

I tend to prefer Vertiv (formerly Liebert) or Eaton. Better bang for your buck, and typically more reliable. https://www.amazon.com/Liebert-line-Interactive-Technology-Replacement-PSA5-1500MT120/dp/B07BYD6RLN/

    Reladyne Duramax Full Synthetic 5W-30 3k mi; 2023 F150, 2.7 Ecoboost

I wonder if it is a bad sample, or if this Duramax oil is just mediocre at best. Something tells me it's the latter, which concerns me because I highly doubt the average Take 5 customer is doing a 3k mi OCI. :-)

    f-150 2.7 Eco-Boost Sheared 5W-30 down to 5W-20. Which oil to buy?

I ran Pennzoil Ultra 5W-30 in my '22 2.7 for almost 30k miles with no issues. Plenty of idling and short trips. You may have better luck finding Euro L than Ultra in retail stores. M1 ESP 5W30 or 0W30 is the new favorite around here, they are also great oils and would serve you well.

Castrol GTX FS/HM at Tractor Supply and Home Depot

Willis store has a bunch of 5qt jugs - mostly HM in 5-20 and 5-30, and a couple of GTX FS 5-20 and 5-30. I tried to grab the FS 5-30, clearance stickered at 26.99, but it rang up at sticker price. No thanks.

Castrol GTX FS/HM at Tractor Supply and Home Depot

Dang, and I was just at that HD a couple hours before you were, probably spent a couple hours trying to figure out the store layout. Just my luck... :-) Apparently the Magnolia HD has some 10W-30 PP on markdown but still haven't been able to find it. Will try to hit up the TS here in Willis to...

    Castrol EDGE does it all...

The GTX line does have a full synthetic product, it is what replaced the "Magnatec" product if I'm not mistaken.

    Auto insurance

We are with State Farm, generally happy with them. I shop our rates every renewal period, usually with the "big guys" and a local independent agent. Most of the independent agents ("Goosehead" especially) I've encountered end up being pretty useless, just young and inexperienced salespeople that...
