How often do you change brake pads/rotors?

Oh, and I measured my rotors, and they will be good for the life of the car.

How often do you change brake pads/rotors?

I replaced front brake pads on my Corolla at 75K, but they had some material left. Half of that driving was previous owner. Those pads are still on at 185K, and I just checked them, and at current wear they should be good until at least 220K. Find minimum thickness specification and measure...

Hey, thanks for all for chiming in. I made the decision and flushed the fluid last night with Mobil 1 ATF. It was a surprisingly easy job... Rolla07: Flush was so easy that I'm wondering why anyone bothers with the turkey baster method. In fact I don't have a turkey baster; I just disconnected...

Thanks everybody. Amsoil: I don't like the inconvenience that I have to buy it from an Amsoil delaer. Synthetic being overkill: Since it's such a low cost compared to the cost of a car ownership, I might as well use synthetic, even if it's not necessary. Flush on the 2005: I'll take my...

Hi, I'll be doing a PS flush soon; car has 120K miles on it and it still has the factory fill. It's an '05 Corolla, and Dexron II/III is specified. I'm thinking of the following options: RedLine PSF: Their website states that it is suitable in PS systems requiring Dexron III. Mobil 1 ATF...

I've just realized I messed up the mileage in the thread name... I just copy-pasted a previous thread of mine... Anyway, close enough.

10,000 miles ago a random oil sample came back with high silicon, but low wear. I looked over the car and I found a potential source of air leak, which I sealed with silicone. I sent in a new sample after the second oil change after this (to skip the one that may potentially affected by the...

Thanks all. I checked all around the air cleaner box, the PCV valve and tubing, vacuum hose, everything. Everything still looks new, absolutely no sign of worn, cracked parts, no sign of air leakage. I tried to operate the engine while listening to hissing, but I only hear something like that...

Last time I ran the oil to 7000 miles and I got pretty bad results with high silicon and copper. I checked the engine carefully and I found no air leaks. Air filter is OEM and it was replaced on schedule; it looks good, no sign of damage, and it seats well. I decided to change the oil much...

Soft Brakes/Bleeding Brakes on a 1988 GMC Suburban

The tube goes over the conical end, and the hexagonal part that you can turn is a little below that, so the tube won't cover it. Then you use an open end wrench (or better yet, a box wrench) to turn the bleeder screw. It will be pretty clear when you see how it looks.
