I agree that he's clearly a smart dude, just he embellishes a lot.
At the same time though, he did absolutely no research before teardown and made some assumptions. He claims the clearances are so tight, but tight compared to what? Because there are many engines with clearances that are tighter...
I have gone down this rabbit hole on another thread concerning the V35A. Here are my take-aways...
1. It's not a viscosity issue. There are threads on IH8MUD where there have been failures in other countries where they use Xw30, Xw40 and even Xw50.
2. It doesn't matter if it's produced in the...
The V35A has been out since 2018 where it was introduced in the LS500. It has had this same type of failure since it debuted. Toyota has known about this issue for nearly a decade now. The only reason it wasn't a hot ticket item is because LS500's are low volume and typical LS500 owners aren't...
We'll see how this reverse bleeding goes and I might end up in this spot eventually. I do like to have multiple options for tools and different applications though. So a pressure bleeder may be in my future regardless.
I think there is a little bit the soft initial application built into the master cylinder piston travel, but it it travels enough to touch my pinky and right ring finger when 2 finger braking on the initial pull. You have me wondering about the calipers now and if they may be returning further...
Yes, very similar to that but with an all metal body.
They aren't very valuable and I wouldn't be opposed to doing that. I'm going to give reverse bleeding a try, if that doesn't work then I suppose traditional pressure bleeding.
The rotors are not warped. It's brake pad transfer. There are 2 types of friction brakes use, Abrasive and Adherent. What is happening is that you've gone past the heat of the brake pad's high temp range and the pad is leaving (or adhering) material on the rotor. Primarily this happens when you...
I think a pressure bleeder would be somewhat difficult with my master cylinder. I do have another master cylinder and cover from a box of random parts I bought a while back. But I’m not sure how well it will work?
I've read about reverse bleeding, I'm not opposed to it and it makes a lot of sense. I'm not too worried about back feed since last spring I bled it was about 20oz and this season I tried again with about 10-12 oz with the same result. It's really clean coming out.
It makes sense that a vacuum...
I like Echo Red Armor for its cleaning ability. I kind of look at it like Valvoline Restore and Protect, but for 2 strokes. Keeps the carb clean and will clean existing carbon from the rings and muffler plus it will keep it running clean. I run it at 32:1 in my 30+ year old LawnBoy mower and...
How are those in winter conditions? I'm considering the Nokian Outpost NaT on my F150. I had the Cooper Discover AT on an F150 nearly 10 years ago. They were fine at that time, but I was never really happy with the winter performance.
Any recommendations for Vacuum Brake Bleeders? Specifically using it on my motorcycle brakes, but of course having it for automotive would be great too. I have a Matco (Mightyvac) hand pump style, but I don't know if that'll work the best for this application? My issue on my Victory is that the...
Keep using Valvoline Restore and Protect, there is no reason not to. If it's burning oil, this will only help long term. If consumption goes down using Valvoline Restore and Protect, it will help keep it clean to prevent it becoming an oil burner again.
Also worth checking/replacing the PCV...
Every manufacture is making right to repair more difficult and expensive (licenses for independent shops) to the point that it's hard for shops to remain profitable while servicing/repairing multiple brands. The difference is that Farley actually said it out loud....
Yup, factory AC, power steering and a powerglide. From what I understand, it has a pretty rare set of options. First year for the 327 in the trucks also. I'm not too concerned with keeping it all original or numbers matching though since it'll stay in the family. I want the AC to work, whether...
