27k at purchase, almost 30k now.
Pretty much what I did, $20 for 5 quarts of Valvoline is hard to beat. I can save the money for the KY jelly though, once I tell her we can go on vacation I won't need it ;)
$10 a liter is significantly more than $20 for 5 quarts. I'm not doubting that Liqui...
It’s a chain. Consignment dealership.
www.carlotz.com
First time with that location, but third time getting a good deal through them. It’s a solid place, but wouldn’t trust the oil or filter to be proper. They only make a few hundred off the transaction, and ignorance is probably part of it.
Here are some photos of the car. I'll post oil change photos this weekend :)
Yeah, $20 delivered from Walmart.com - are you implying $20 oil is inferior? Never used Valvoline (have used their trans fluid for drain and fills with good success). It's LL-01 approved.
Yeah, I'm going to wait...
Well, thanks for the wealth of great knowledge guys. I'll knock the oil change out this weekend, and have enough in stock for one more Valvoline/Mann filter change after that - and tons of knowledge if I feel I need to switch, but for the $20/qt the Valvoline European 5w40 costs, 5k OCI and...
Carlotz in Monroe, NC - apparently. I didn't take it anywhere to get it done, I only do oil changes myself. They told me when I purchased the car that they had just changed it. I assumed they had done it correctly, but as I started the journey of investigating the best fluids and filter to do it...
Not a BMW dealership - which is why I was concerned about what kind of oil they put in the car in the first place.
Yes, this is exactly what they replied via email "We used 5.6 quarts of STP 0W-20 full synthetic."
EDIT: Another thought, the quality of the filter will have me losing sleep as...
I managed to pry the oil used by the dealership out of them. 0W20 STP Full Synthetic. I was planning to change at 5k, does anyone think I should go ahead and change it early? Currently at 3000 on this oil, have Valvoline 5W40 Euro and Mann filter in stock in my garage.
The Valvoline European 5W40 has LL-01 approval, and it is priced at $19.99 and locally available. Pretty hard deal to beat, and I don't have to ship anything back. The car isn't street raced, tracked, and such a short OCI, I don't see how I could have any issues. Will be sticking to Mann or...
I’m not sure I understand. That oil doesn’t come in a kit, not that I’m opposed to that. I don’t know anything about that oil though.
To the person commenting about the BMW TPT, only the 0W20 comes up for my car. I don’t think the 20 protects well enough, but I would use the 0W30 - that stuff...
So I am incorrect that the 0W40 used to have LL-01? I could have sworn it did, and I even saw a screenshot of someone who emailed Castrol and the response was that they didn't seek re-approval.
