Oh I should clarify the 2015 WRX utilizes a new motor. The fa20dit. It's direct injection with a twin scroll turbo.

It's strictly a track car now but has a long block. Power comes from the e85 tune and bolt ons. HPDE with a focus in moving to time attack. Session are usually 20 mins. Car does sometimes get tracked inn 105F weather. 😅

I'm not an expert on oil. It seemed good and cheap. I got cases in the garage. When I finish it I'll look for something else.

Miles on that oil is just over 1000. Miles on engine almost 69000. Very little oil usage. She burns a tiny amount at the track but I overfill it slightly. I would guess 1/8 of the dip stick full to low. When no tracking, she might burn that same amount over 4000 miles.

New test results. I thought about the sulfur theory when I got the UOA back. From what I can tell, there is higher sulfur in E85 in California when compared to our 91. That should have forced the TBN to drop further, not raise it. Now the viscosity going up could be a result of the E85. I can...

The engine in the car was part of a Subaru recall. Part of the procedure required a leak down test, which it passed. I believe it was 1% across all cylinders, so at least the piston rings are solid. Not sure what else I can do.

A few more UOAs later...and the nickel is still present. Car has only had the black subaru filter and Mobil 1 5W30 ESP. Unfortunately, I've got enough ESP to last another 30K! The curse of the right click happy online shopper.
