    0w20 in 2012 Kia Forte

I have a '12 Accent and have found that it likes a thicker oil. Seems to quiet the rattle from the the DI pump.

Do engines even wear out any more?

I had a Dodge Spirit with approx 240,000 miles on it. I got a bargain on a donor wreck with an engine with only 68,000 and the 4spd transmission, so I swapped it. After that, I tore down the original engine. You could still see the crosshatch on the cylinder walls from the factory hone and all...

    winshield wipers skip across windshield

Try this. Wash your car like normal, and then take a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to the windows. You'll probably be amazed at how much stuff it gets off the "clean" windshield. As far as I can tell, the melamine foam cannot harm glass.

Car appears to get better mileage on 93 Octane...

    GM OLM math help

If memory serves, the 3800 has a pretty small oil capacity. So you are working the oil harder in a shorter amount of time.

    Sylvania Bulb?

I'm going to have to disagree with the crowd here. Whenever I replace a factory bulb with a Sylvania bulb, I know I'm guaranteed to have to replace that bulb every 6-12 months from then on. They don't last nearly as long as the OEM bulbs. Unfortunately, no other brand seems to be available where...

Should I use the worse oil filter for UOAs?

In general, you should run tests on the actual circumstances. So if you plan to use cheap filters, use them for the test. If you will always use a certain brand, use that brand for the test. Adding variables can make the results useless. Anyway, I think the person who said that anything large...

    Electric steering, pulling fuse?

I've got a '12 Hyundai Accent with EPS, and it is great. Much more natural feeling than hydraulic PS, in my opinion. Before you get in the weeds about disabling them, just test some vehicles with it and see how you like it.

    CV Axle fell out!

Thanks for the info, puts my mind at ease. Did the work over the weekend. What happened was a c-clip on one of the bearings on the inner CV joint came out, and allowed the bearing to come apart. There were little rollers all over the place. So what must have happened is one of the remaining...

    CV Axle fell out!

Hello all- I searched and found only one thread referring to this, and it was for a new install. About a year ago, I replaced both CV axles on my 1997 Grand Prix. They were Autozone parts- looked really well made. I think they might have even been new, instead of reman. Everything was fine...

    Buyer beware "Made in USA"

Manufacturing in the US has been growing in the long term. For the most part, every year, we sell more $ worth of stuff. What hasn't been growing is jobs *in* manufacturing. Productivity is way, way up. http://yglesias.thinkprogress.org/2010/01/american-manufacturing-is-very-productive/
