Thanks everyone, my son recently bought some STP XL filters (7317 size) for his two Hondas..they definitely have a silicone ADBV, and looking at the Autozone website they also have a Subaru specific application..so maybe I'll grab one of those and put it on after the Endurance one i have sitting...

After you clean the particles filter, you can throw a cup of white vinegar in there on a quick cycle. That will freshen up the inside and costs little. Just start it first for a second before you put the vinegar in, as most dishwashers do a pump-out at the start and will pump your vinegar out!

so, is the general consensus that the Fram Endurance Filter is crap now? I have one on the shelf of the exact model in the video at the top of this thread that was destined for my wife's Subaru Outback (I won't re-start the bypass pressure discussion). I mainly bought it for the better...

I had the exact same issue...and am still fuming that the 2018's were skipped on the TSB...and apparently it's a design flaw they never fixed. Sadly it's the only thing I have been unhappy with on that car....at ~75k miles right now so guess I'll see that issue again sometime

I'm interested in this discussion as I have a 2016 Outback and a 2018 Traverse. Since the Traverse wants 5w-30 DEXOs oil, I was hoping I could use that in both and not have to buy two types all ths time (6 qts and 5.1 qts). I found the UK owners manual for the 2016 Outback and it calls for 5w-30.
