Valvoline Restore and Protect + MOS2

I’m not familiar with holly water. What is it? Some kind of plant extract?

2024 Subaru Outback XT first gear oil change front and back. - Notes

I’ll only do one for you… 51.6ft-lbs is 70 N-m. That’s why they’re odd numbers. And yes, the different sizes is frustrating. At least on the older cars all you need is your 3/8” square drive ratchet. 👍🏻

    Lets talk about Bourbon

First time with Horse Soldier Reserve. 61%, 122 proof. It’s definitely not “bad”, but it just doesn’t get my taste buds excited for the next sip like just about any Old Forester (especially the barrel proof series) does! My uncle says anybody who drinks bourbon without a splash of water at a...

2002 Subaru Forester S with 4eat transmission - Help, Urgent. I think I screwed up

A little off topic but still 4EAT-related. Even though the Subaru calls for HPL Blue and my F-150 (10R80) calls for HPL Teal, the F150 has been running Green CC for 35k miles, and the Impreza on Green CC as well for about 17k. Probably confirming Trav’s point on the MaxLife, it always worked...

    When's the Next HPL Sale?

Why do you think I ordered 2 more cases of 12 quarts when my oil shelf is already stacked to the gills with HPL already?

2002 Subaru Forester S with 4eat transmission - Help, Urgent. I think I screwed up

I don’t know what TLS viscosity range is equivalent to, but I’ve used nothing but MaxLife ATF in my 4EATs for at least a decade. If a vehicle that takes TLS is covered by what MaxLife says it’s suitable for, I would imagine you’ll probably be fine.

He cleaned out my local store too, Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30 was the only open spot on the shelf. 🤷

You could have ordered 3 of the filters from WM and they would have delivered them to your house for free, likely next day. You’d have also gotten them at a 33% sale price (B2G1F) compared to the AZ price. How’s that for convenience? 🤣

Radiator Hoses for 2004 Nissan Sentra 1.8

With the luck I’ve had, I always go with the Japanese OEM (Subaru in my case). The money spent on OEM quality will EASILY be eclipsed if any part of the “budget” junk fails to work as intended. Oil, transmission fluid, filters, wipers, brake pads… sure, but third party. But IMO OEM...

Euro for the F-150 3.5EB, PCMO for the 2019 Ascent. These quarts should make it til Grp III+ base stocks make it back online, hopefully. @Foxtrot08 always brings good insight into the industry, if not always good news.

Amsoil 10w-30 Small Engine Oil noisier than SAE 30 in Briggs and Stratton

What exactly, sir, do you propose supposedly makes mineral oils quieter? The Group II base oils? The additional sulfur molecules? The lower VI of the mineral oil? Or a healthy dose of confirmation bias? I’m curious…

    Transmission Additives?

Not entirely true. The ‘05 Ody I bought many years back spent its first 60k with the best service you could buy at Honda. The 75k just preceding my ownership… not so much. My friend was the original owner; I did 4 D&F plus the top-off just over 136k along with a VCMuzzler, then a gallon of new...

Dual CPU motherboard upgrade, good or bad?

Quantity of RAM unfortunately doesn’t overcome speed of said RAM. That said, since you’re focused almost solely on gaming performance… you get a small window of opportunity. Keep the proc, mobo & RAM. Put every penny into the highest-level GPU your budget allows. Nothing in your price range...

Gen 3 Hayabusa, Help Me Choose an Oil

Personally, something that old, I would use in the weed sprayer to coat all the crap along my fence line, then set off a pack of Black Snakes at one end to set the whole thing alight and clean it up…
