I know it depends on how popular a filter model is, but even at Walmart the fram PH9688 filters I always use to buy for about $5ish are now like $9ish and often a tad more than a TG9688. We do still use 87 octane, but we're in Colorado where that's midgrade. I did run 91 octane for a few cycles and honestly couldn't notice much of a difference and up here anyway the price difference is big enough to be annoying lol. We do have ethanol free options so I do wonder about that...

LOL! This. The subaru blue frams are just fine. I used to use only OEM black roki filters for my 3.6 for a while and while they are very well built, you know the one thing I never could find out? BY FAR the most important thing on any filter period is that it has metal endcaps. That's ALL That matters...because Youtube. :cautious:

No offense, but if one instance of something going wrong is enough for you...then there is no filter on the market today that is good enough for you. I can guarantee you that there is not one filter out there that hasn't had a failure or some sort.

Same with the OEM Subaru filter for the H6. But I've used everything from Frams to Wix and house brands with a drainback value without issue.

Same, I've used the boss on other cars without issue but the sizing for my personal motor makes it too big to fit properly so stay away from it. Honestly at this point I don't really trust any purolator made filters outside of the boss and there are just too many as good or better choices for...

This is the SN+ lineup so not sure about the new SP ones, but it's a solid oil for 5k or so intervals really. Nothing special but not at all bad either. Add pack seems plenty decent even with a low TBN, but otherwise looks good for $15 per 5qt jug really. Even a bit stronger than the Napa syn...
