To add on the above response, I have tried rotella oil which I beleive was 5w-40 and it still burned oil. I can't remember how much, but enough for me to find bothersome. I have not tried 15w-50 as suggested above. Maybe it will be fine, but having to fill oil around 1500 miles is ridiculaous...

I like this idea. Worth a shot. All of the people on subaru forums kept tell me, the engine will be fine, but didn't tell me about the unintended consequences (catalytic converter). lol I think I might change to a higher viscocity in future.

FYI, I have been using valvoline restore and protect for over 6-8 months now (3-4 oil changes). I think it did make some improvements, but nothing sort of curing the oil burn issue. I used to get low oil light around 11-1200 miles, now it's usually around 1400 miles, so it did some cleaning. I...

For now the CEL has gone off on its own, but I am concered that it might pop up at some point again. It's roughly 1k miles or so since that light illuminated. I also tried Cataclean, it defintiely seems like a nice product. I could tell it did improve something. The pedal is more responsive.

For what's worth, I don't think HPL engine oil did anything. For a $60 oil with lots of positive reviews, I was hoping to see some positive outcome, but nada. I am reluctant on pouring money on an expensive oil if it's not actually improving. I used that oil for almost 5000-6000 miles. It's not...

Typing this on the phone. I logged this. I am not sure if I captures upstream and downstream both. I could only find these ones with lambda in the obd scanner. They mirror each other. Not sure if it is the same sensor though (at idle).

Update: I finally flushed the HPL engine oil. I stretched it up to 4600 miles with that oil. I did top up at least twice, one with regular oil, and one with rislone. I ended up doing an oil change with Pennzoil Euro 5w30 just recently. And I recently got P0420 check engine light. :/ I am...

Update: I did an oil change with 5 Qt HP Engine OIL 5w30. I got my low oil engine light at 1650. I added 1 qt again. I will change the oil filter.

Update: As I mentioned earlier, I used YAMALUBE ring free (2500 miles ago). I used 6 oz for entire tank, and then another 6 oz on empty tank. It seemed to have done something as my low oil light came on around 1900 mile mark. Then I used Rislone engine treatment (500 ml) and got low oil light...

I have already replaced PCV valve 2 years ago. I check oil every few days out of curiosity.
