2005 Chevy Impala 3.4L PCV Replacement

Great photo. I have heard about these PCV valves but never seen one. I have also heard what FSully1 wrote--that the fasteners are actually nails, not rivets, and that a good prying tool can pull them off. Again, this is second-hand knowledge, but I say give the pry a try.

    Updated Purolator spreadsheet

After about five months of neglect, I updated the torn Purolator spreadsheet. I apologize for my absence; it was a busy time with finishing school, moving, and starting a new job. In reading past threads on this topic, I have noticed that some people want statistics on filters that didn't fail...

    PF63 Availability - Expanding

Does the filter protrude past the bottom of the oil pan? I don't know the height of the PF63, but on my van it looks like that might be an issue for filters that are much longer than the PF48. That said, my van has a low crossmember directly in front of the engine, so it would still be a...

    List of Purolator failures

Updated with six more entries, including one that I had missed from SirPete back in April. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...amp;usp=sharing

    List of Purolator failures

Updated with four more entries. Hopefully the reports start subsiding soon. I guess it will take a few more months---my last PureOne will probably be in service until October.

    List of Purolator failures

I got the list updated. Sorry about the delay, I've been busy for the last month with a big move. It's updated with entries from KenO, threeputtpar, FutureDoc, 137_Trenton, Benaiah, nobb, HangFire, ThirdeYe, jmb3675, and cb4017. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...amp;usp=sharing Code...

PL14610, 5K mi, not torn, but not great

Before taking out the trash this week, I figured I'd take another look at the filter. There are indeed no tears, but I was incorrect that the adhesive gave out on both surfaces of the medium. The inside of the pleat was still bonded, but the adhesive had failed on its outside. The inner-pleat...

PL14610, 5K mi, not torn, but not great

By the way, I elected not to include this one in my spreadsheet. Originally Posted By: ZeeOSix I think the only way the media could come "unglued" from the potting adhesive is by tearing, unless the end of the pleat was never down far enough into the end cap for the glue to cover it in the...

Wix 57356 (Honda) now with silicone ADBV

Here is a brand new Wix 57356. This is the narrow M20 filter commonly used on Japanese engines. For some reason, Wix separates this filter application into parts 57356 for Hondas and 51356 for everything else. There was a prior thread on the differences. In the past, the 57356 reportedly used a...

PL14610, 5K mi, not torn, but not great

I just pulled this PureOne PL14610 off of our 2002 Honda Civic. It was in service for 5242 miles over 7 months with Pennzoil conventional 5W-20. The car was mostly in here near San Francisco, but spent two months in Denver during late winter. The date code on the filter is F04E26E1. The filter...

Purolator 14610 and Bosch 3330 Cut Open

I added these to the spreadsheet. Date code would be nice. Also, I assume the Bosch is a 3323 and not a 3330. There are no Honda applications for 3330.
