BMW Z4 Lifetime Transmission+Differential Fluid Qs

If your '07 Z4 has an automatic, the tranny is a Steptronic ZF unit in the 6HP19 family, with 6HP19Z designation for the many BMW units that year. These units came with BMW "lifetime fill" ATF, which is listed in the BMW Operating Fluids Manual, Groupe 24, as Shell M-1375.4, only available at...

    New 2010 Jeep Wrangler

I've got a 2007. My engine was noisy with 20 weight oils. I now run Amsoil ACD diesel oil 10w30/30w. Change at 5K. Very quiet and smooth now. Others may say this is a problem. The engine runs real hot, in my opinion, and looks just like my 98 minivan motor, that spec'ed a 30w. This an OHV...

Grease for calpier slide pins and contact points?

I've used all of those greases suggested by 1 FMF (see my previous post). They swell the rubber seals exactly as marksubaru said. My 2002 Toyota Sequoia rear brake pins with rubber seals and my 2007 Toyota Rav4 front brake pins swell the rubber seals with all of these greases and only the pink...

    Amsoil Filter Question

Does the 051 base/threads match the 057 then?
  6. S

    Amsoil Filter Question

The 057 filter used to be spec'ed for my Toyota V8's AND for my 2007 Jeep Wrangler. Now that the 057 filter is not offered, the Toyotas spec only the WIX, while the Jeep now calls for the 051. Why not the WIX for the Jeep too? Why not the 051 for the Toyotas? Just trying to buy a common filter...

    Amsoil Filter Question

What's the difference between the EAO51 filter and my old favorite, fits everything I own EAO57? Same WIX filter cross-references to both.

New TSB involving the Toyota 1.8 engine and EaOs

Doesn't make sense from my personal experiences. I have two Tundras and they run the 057 filter. These engines, without timing chains to beat up the oil, are easy on oil. Look at the UOA's for these engines. Any filter within the application would work well. I have an 02 Corolla with a 1.8l...

Anyone have experience with the Toyota ATF-WS

I just changed it in my 07 Rav4 with at 30K. Drain and fill through the drain plug/dip stick. 3 quarts exactly. Old fluid looked like brown used engine oil. The new WS fluid from Toyota stealership was cherry red. Tranny is much smoother now. Many might disagree, but judging by color, this fluid...

    Wix vs. Mann Filter

Buy the MANN. They are usually made better, and the MANN filters are top quality replacements for the Mexican-built European cars.

    WIX Question

I know we are in the oil filter section, but for me every Wix air filter has been poor quality compared to OEM. I've got alot of Toyotas - 2002 Corolla - WIX filter was deformed and did not fit in air box (got a replacement - the same for No. 2) - went with OEM DENSO from Stealership - so much...

Amsoil ATF vs Toyota WS ATF

Got a full case this morning. List $4.19 per quart. Net $3.09, since I bought a case. Genuine Toyota ATF-WS. Looks like my favorite Amsoil ATF, if they ever spec it for WS service, is not even close in cost. I still think it's thicker than the Amsoil Universal ATF. My '07 RAV4 likes the new...

Amsoil ATF vs Toyota WS ATF

Got around to changing the ATF fluid in my daughter's '07 RAV4. It has a wonderful drain plug (and dipstick), once you get the plastic bottom cover off. Got the Toyota WS ATF at the Stealership. Only $3.48 a quart - a real bargain for these guys. Doing the unscientific 'how fast does it pour...

    $177 for BMW's Oil Change

Plays on the fact that, especially this Stealership, understands most folks are ignorant and lazy - ignorant on how even to change their own oil and do basic maintenance, ignorant in not knowing that even 'BMW synthetic' oil is only $6 a quart and the filter is only about $10, ignorant in not...

    BMW LL Certified Oils?

I had the same discussion with the knuckleheads at the BMW 'Service Center' regarding my 2006 Z4 in my area. According to the manual, states you must use LL01 oil with Certifications x, y, z.... In the same paragraph, it says to use Castrol (BMW-branded) 5W30. This oil, according to its label...
