The guy I got the idea from to get a duplexing laser printer has an older model and he refills his toner. Says it can be a bit of a pain and potentially messy but VERY inexpensive. He said you could refill one 6-10 times before it wore out.
So, I now have a task that specifically calls for printing front and back. I'm looking for something reasonably priced that you've used and can recommend. I need to print several "books" of maybe 200-300 pages each and inkjet won't work. The ink needs to be somewhat moisture resistant.
I'm...
Thank you all for your help.
I tried everything I could to salvage any of her files on the HD and nothing worked. I finally restored back to the original factory setup. I stressed the need to back up several times to my daughter, I hope that she will. I'm planning on getting her an external...
Ok, I went and looked at how the Ultimate Boot CD works and man is it complicated and involved. You need to have a Windows XP CD with SP2 etc. The whole process is way too complicated for me. I'm back to the drawing board...
The Ultimate Boot CD is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks! I wonder if I can use it off a USB storage stick? I registered at their forum and I am going to ask.
Ok, good, thanks for the info guys.
The second part I need some help with is making the boot CD. I looked at the download site for Knoppix and there are lots of files. I don't know which ones I need or want. there are a couple of large ISO files and several different various small files.
Is...
So here is the situation. My daughter's computer won't boot. Vista is hosed. I had the idea to make a Knoppix CD and boot the compter to see if I can see the HD so I can maybe recover some of her files that she didn't back up.
If there is a different Linux on a CD ditro that you prefer, that's...
I'd have to vote for the Inspiron 1520 or 1525. Second would be Toshiba or Sony. I have a Toshiba with an Athlon 64 that runs so hot that it just shuts off from time to time. If you put your hand on the bottom of the case it's not warm it's HOT. My Dell Inspiron 1720 with the Intel Core 2 Duo...
The bad economy and general economic malaise combined with $4+ a gallon gas must not be affecting your family. Why? you ask. I just bought a Dell laptop with a 17" screen for a hair under $700 from the Dell outlet store. It was pristine and appeared to have never been touched by human hands. Now...
Well, I finally took the car in to a mechanic and it was two coil modules? Two of the cylinders weren't firing and that's why the car was running rough. He said it didn't need plugs and wires. Cost me $115. That is one of the smallest mechanic bills I've ever had. I'm relieved that I don't need...
No problem, hijack all you want. Replacement keys is another peeve of mine.
The Cadillac CTS that replaced the Catera seems to use the same engine based on the pics I've seen. I don't know if the CTS is carrying on the tradition of being unreliable and prone to problems?
I have my eye on a 2003 Olds minivan or maybe a Pontiac Vibe for the wife. She needs reliable transportation. The Catera was fine until I had this guy who I know work on it, since then nothing has gone right with that car. Either my daughter or I will drive the Catera next. I'm hoping to get...
