Are your driving plans changing due to fuel costs?

No change. I remember back in 2007 when I bought my first Ram/hemi and gas got up to 5 bucks a gallon for a spell. So I just put things in perspective.

    Post your latest oil change

That's weird. Let me try that again. :D (that hinge did fit the problem on my 2018 Ram, but that's another story.) GaRhomxy M14x1.5 Magnetic Oil Drain Plug,Strong Magnetic Stainless Steel Oil Drain Nut Pan Bolt with 5PCS Copper Crush Washer Gasket to Prevent Leakage, Fits for Most Cars...

    Post your latest oil change

Changed oil. 178K miles first time using 30 weight oil on my 2018 Ram 1500 with the 3.6L. Always used 0w20 year round since new. Figured why not? Most say it can't hurt and many say it protects a little more. Also first time using Amsoil motor oil. I use it on most other components but consider...

    Coolant funnel

I varies with towns/cities. For example our town has designated days where the recycling center will accept hazardous waste like coolant/antifreeze for free disposal. But usually they charge a fee. Our dump is happy to receive used motor oil and transmission fluid since they have a furnace...

    Coolant funnel

I bought the UView 550000 Airlift Cooling System Leak Checker and Airlock Purge Tool Kit a couple of years ago. Finally got around to using it last month. Made quick easy work of purging/filling. There are much less expensive alternatives. It was about 25 bucks less when I bought it than it...

    Coolant funnel

I also bought a vacuum filler / air purger. A lot of modern engines have become harder to burp out all the stubborn airlocks from the system.

B&M trans pan for Ram 1500 ZF 8HP series

That's a well built pan. I'm surprised the inside seems to be painted/powder coated. The PPE has a groove in the top of the pan like the OEM that the rubber gasket sits in. Is that a cork gasket, any seepage issues?

Caulk 8HP Thermal Bypass Valve Installation

I installed the caulk bypass last summer along with the PPE pan, and several fluid changes replacing with Amsoil. I did notice in summer getting up into the mid 180's or so, but I didn't monitor too closely. The heavy duty Rams with the same transmission don't have that silly transmission...

Valvoline Extended Protection ATF .... ZF 8 speed

I use Amsoil signature series fuel efficient ATL on my 2018 Ram 1500 with the ZF8. Three drain and fills and a PPE pan. 16k miles, so far so good. Very smooth shifts.

Engine and Oil Heater Reduces Wear

I saw the video the other day. His main point was not so much about block and oil heaters, or his impractical experiment. His main point was that most of those extremely high mileage vehicles were driven extremely high miles in a very short period. Such as work and transportation vehicles...

Finally changed the ATF on my 2016 Ram 1500 ZF 8 speed

I've heard they don't reseal well. It's a plastic bolt.

    ZF8 Aluminum Pan

If you buy MOPAR oem filter it pays for itself quick. But you're right, there are plenty of cheap aftermarket options now.

    RP 342 or Fluid Film

I prefer woolwax. I appied 3 years ago and most of it still clinging to frame of my pickup truck. I just do a little touch up here and there once in a while. They say it works fine inside doors and cavities but I usually spray lighter fluids there, fluid film, surface shield and such.

Under Valve 2007 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L 207K miles.

My wife's 2007 Sonata developed an irritating oil leak, noticed it while wife parked vehicle in garage during winter. Ordered a valve gasket kit and did the job last week. We're about ready to buy something new. Truth is wife's gotten bored with this car, window controls no longer working...

2026 3.6L Pentastar Direct Injected or Port Fuel Injection?

In 2019 they added the eTorque system to Rams and some Jeep models. It's a "mild-hybrid" setup that replaces the traditional alternator with a belt-driven motor generator unit.
